Machine Learning gibt den Künstlerberuf, Machine Learning nimmt ihn hinweg
Wegen eines Gesprächs mit Gregor Weichbrodt probiere ich zum ersten Mal die Bildanalysefähigkeiten von Googles Cloud Vision API aus. Ich lade das erstbeste Foto hoch, das mir auf der lokalen Festplatte in die Finger fällt, es ist Teil der Sammlung von Fotos weggeworfener Wäscheständer, aufgenommen hat es Moritz Metz. Und siehe da, Google teilt meine Meinung, es handelt sich um Kunst! Siebzigprozentige Kunst!
Bei allen weiteren getesteten Wäscheständerfotos erkennt Google leider ganz andere Dinge, und Kunst ist nicht dabei:
Amazon bietet mit Amazon Rekognition einen ähnlichen Service an und erkennt sogar 86,4-prozentige Kunst auf dem ersten Foto:
Leider sind dafür, wie der Vergleich mehrerer Ergebnisse zeigt, überhaupt nicht meine künstlerisch wertvollen Wäscheständer verantwortlich, sondern nur die abgerissenen Plakate im Hintergrund. Die sind also Kunst, und meine Sammlung ist nur: Müll.

It seems that just like bees, Amazon can sense your fear.
Because nothing says "nightmare scenario" quite like a giant tech corporation everyone uses knowing what you're feeling, Amazon announced on Monday that Rekognition, its controversial facial recognition tool, can now detect a person's fear.
The update includes "improved accuracy for emotion detection (for all 7 emotions: ‘Happy’, ‘Sad’, ‘Angry’, ‘Surprised’, ‘Disgusted’, ‘Calm’ and ‘Confused’)" but, just for kicks, I guess, "added a new emotion: ‘Fear’."
