Meryl takes after the tiny Royal Gamma, whereas Milly is similar to the more simple (but still just as beautiful) Reef Chromis. Both are tropical reef fish, and as such tend to stay in the shallows. At least until Vash comes along and they have to venture out into the open ocean.
