Invoke Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to Prevent Trump's from holding Office
This petition comes from a deeply concerned citizen who sees Donald Trump as a significant threat to our national security, owing to his actions related to the 1/6 insurrection. It was this event which led to his historic second impeachment by the U.S Congress. The heart of this issue is section 3 of the 14th amendment, which reads: "No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof." This section was enacted precisely to guard against the possibility of individuals using their offices to incite insurgency or aid our nation's enemies. This is a direct response to the precedent set by the historic impeachment of a U.S President pertaining to the events of 1/6. By enforcing this provision, we can ensure that those who have shown themselves to be a threat to our democracy are prevented from holding office in the future.
