So i'm watching lost and after the death of the husband the wife says that just because there was no will the daughter (stepdaughter for the wife) will get no money from him which is... insane? Are there no rules in america to protect the heirs? Like in Italy if there's not a will you have certain percentage that the kids get if the parent dies. Like the surviving spouse gets 50% and the kids divide the other 50%. Like she can just decide to keep all his money?
