What are all the interesting niche portal facts you know?
All of them?? Oh I couldn’t possibly list *all* of them, I know far too many. So here are a few of my favorites:
In PeTI (perpetual testing initiative DLC), there is a universe in which Cave Johnson saves the world by buying out Black Mesa and stopping the resonance cascade. “What were you thinking? You’re supposed to be scientists!” Which means, as dangerous as Cave’s ideas were, to his credit, he wouldn’t have started a resonance cascade.
All of Cave Johnson’s spoken lines have a run time of about 40 minutes
In the Lab Rat comic, Doug Rattmann holds a file in his mouth exactly 2 times.
It is heavily implied through recorded and cut lines that Caroline had a critical role in Aperture’s operation, beyond the duties of your everyday assistant. To me it’s obvious, but I’m a Caroline fan.
Caroline’s face model is former Valve developer Laura Dubuk. She did a lot of concept art for Portal and Half-Life. I think she owned the dress and scarf she wore for the portrait of Caroline, too!
