Ayla had turned the thought over time and time again. Was she imagining things, or had she finally caught their eye last night? She rang the doorbell, presenting a basket of goodies. She's had to shuffle a few of the items to mask the gaps made in her late-night snacking. Shoved one or two extra bottles of pinot from the cellar to encourage a fun night. "Welcome!" she shifts awkwardly, eyes darting and feeling silly. They'd checked into her parent's air bnb weeks ago, had already exchanged words ten times over. Her mother would kill her if she knew how absent a host she'd been, but better late than never? "This is for you! Can I set it down inside?"

bags heavy in her arms as she stared up at the information board. big red letters make out the word delayed ... but no new flight time. " shit. " they needed to check the weather for a few hours until a new time could be set. she was supposed to be there early to help out and make sure everything ran smoothly for the whole weekend. otherwise hailey would turn into the biggest bridezilla the world had ever seen. she looked around at other disappointed travelers as she admitted defeat. she was exhausted and only one thing could lighten her mood right now before she planned her next move ... coffee. clearly she wasn't the only one with the same idea. but the comforting smell kept her steady in line. dark hues traveled over the guy in front of her. tall, dark hair and tan skin. mind couldn't help but drift to him. she was going to see him there at the wedding but both would be busy with their duties. there wouldn't be time to chit chat much. she was grateful for it. femme had no desire to walk down memory lane. but then the stranger in front of her made his order. it made her feel like her stomach was turning inside out. no words came out when he turned around and gaze locked on that familiar face. " you ... "

he had been in a time crunch today. usually he liked to keep his eyes on her as much as he could. how she swayed a little more in her steps when she listened to her favorite songs or when someone pissed her off at work and she walked home twice as fast. she was fascinating — one of a kind. icy hues moved to his wrist watch, " anytime now ... " words mumbled to himself before head snapped back up. from his view in the backyard he saw the lights turn on inside. she was home. light feet moved him around the bush as he took a quick look around before his gaze moved back to the window. she was the prettiest thing he had ever laid his eyes on. the way she moved. the way she spoke. the way she handled herself. she was perfect. anton was a patient man but it was easier because he knew her routine. she would have something quick to eat and then move into the shower and that was his window ... get in through the back door quietly and find a place to hide before she got back out. it made him feel closer to her than when he was standing out in the cold. soon enough he got his moment. he slipped in and locked the door after him. gaze took in the apartment he had been in a thousand times before. head turned to the side as the shower turned off and he had to chose his spot. the hallway closest was his choice.

annoyance   clouded   her   features   as   she   sat   on   the   bleachers.   a   chill   had   settled   at   the   base of   her   spine   and   she   couldn't   get   rid   of   it.   it   wasn't  because   of   the   cool   air   inside   the   arena   but   rather   the   icy   demeanor   she  had   gotten   from   him   before   the   game.   they   had   argued   about   her   needing  more   time   together.   something   he   couldn't   give   her.   hockey   would   always   come   first   and   she'd   forever   come in   second   place.  they   had   made   up   but   she  still   had   a   bad   taste   left   in   her   mouth.  she still cheered him on and held signs   she and   her   friends   had   made   the   night   before.   it   wasn't   looking  good   though.   the   game   was   important   because   it   was   the   college's   biggest  rivals.  the   ravens   needed   to   win   at   home   or   else   they   would   feel   crushed.  the   other   team   had   been   owning   the   offensive   zone   the   whole   game   and   the   ravens   couldn't   get   the   puck.   "   come   on   ...   come   on!   "   words   mumbled   to   herself   as   she   watched   the   game. 

being   together   with   the   assistant   captain   had   it's   perks  though,  the   best   seats   at   the   front.   the   other   team   sure   had  a   star   player.   he'd   scored   two   goals   already   and   had   more  ice   time   than   anyone   else   from   the   team.   after   the  argument   they   had   earlier,   she   just   wanted   a   good   night.  she   wanted   to   go   out   after   the   game   and   celebrate.   things  were   always   better   between   them   if   he   won   his   games.   he  wasn't   as   nice   to   deal   with   when   he   had   defeat   hanging  over   him.   "   shit  ...   "   the   other   team   got   the   puck   again   and  mr.   star   player   was   quickly   on   it,   two   on   one   situation.   fuck   -   he   was   gonna   score  and   it   was   only   ten   seconds   left  until   the   game   was   over.   the   opposite   crowd   roared   loudly  as   they   heard   the   final   buzzer.
