(Book excerpt from Amplify, by Adam Met. Wikipedia excerpt from the entry about the No Kings Day protest.)
It is difficult for the average person to understand that their support for a movement has any effect on the world. Even when someone is aimlessly trying to “get fit” or “eat healthier”, people tend to fall off the figurative horse when there are no concrete objectives. Maybe centering a day of protest on a numeric participation goal may help—a Americana 3.5% movement. Of course this would double to scope of the already massive turnout on No King’s Day, but if it the word could spread broader, with more prep time, it is possible. It would be certainly interesting to try.
