I know I’ve hashtagged about this before but:
Bucky Barnes, disabled style icon
having multiple cool prosthetic skins which he designed himself
one is photo-realistic & matched to his other arm (nanomask tech)
but the rest are not even necessarily arm-shaped
and he switches them out for different occasions/seasons/outfits
deliberately decorates them in such a way as to draw attention to the fact that the arm isn’t bio (so he can never be mistaken for a fully-abled celebrity)
rest of him remains consistently Hipster 90s Grunge ‘I woke up like this and not in a good way’ but Today’s Arm is always on point
black velvet evening-glove one makes him feel like Rita Hayworth in Gilda (Steve gets all flustered when he takes that one off)
gothic medieval chainmail gauntlet one from Thor
ceramic and kintsukuroi one with gorgeous glazes
one covered in graffiti by famous artists he has met (including Steve)
waterproof & wood-veneered gardening one with claws for digging
watertight rubber swimming one with webbed fingers and transparent parts that seem to float/disappear underwater
swiss army’s worth of silly attachments like a millennial inspector gadget (including ones for doing Certain Things.)
so few fucks given that he even has a semi-hollow one he can literally fill up with coffee like a moving thermos
(with telescopic curly straws he can start slurping obnoxiously loudly whenever one of Steve’s Rants is beginning to run long)
does photoshoots without arm deliberately showing scars/stump
also designs prostheses for kids and animals
has a charity which does free prosthetics giveaways monthly
charity name some kind of dumb pun, eg. Armour, A Hello to Arms, An Arm & A Leg, etc.
all the fashion blogs watching avidly whenever he attends an Event with Steve like ‘what’s he going to be wearing tonight??’
(and Steve is so grateful he deliberately draws attention away.)
(but also: ‘Captain Rogers! Can you tell us about-’ ‘Never mind that have you seen Bucky’s latest arm??’ ‘But sir can you address the rumours-’ ‘It’s got a flamethrower!!’ ‘Captain pls-’)
Because Bucky knows they’re going to be appearing in widely viewed photos also uses the decoration to draw attention to designers/artists/causes he cares about (Steve doodles satirical comics on them).
