Okay can I also just say that its EXTREMELY RARE to see anyone who is critical of beauty influencers. Which is very disturbing to me because a lot of these men and women are literally making millions of dollars by contributing to a capitalist empire and are worshipped by millions of young people. What I mean is Maybelline, Loreal, NYX, etc are a lot smarter than you think. They see who your watching, following, and taking makeup advice from. These coupon/affliate codes are just another marketing tool to get your money. I know it hurts but how much does your favorite beauty influencer really like a product that they’ve been sent for free and will get paid based off you buying it? I think people are still in the radical feminist 1970′s mindset that “women wear makeup for men” “burn your red lipsticks” when we need to understand people are buying this shit so they can look like Kylie Jenner, Jaclyn Hill, Amreezy, Carli Bybel, Patrick Starrr and countless others. If your into the beauty community then you know its true. The following that some of these people have built up is remarkable and its really disturbing because at the end of the day you are still being sold a lie. That if you buy a,b,c then your life will be like x,y,z.

Tuesday Evening..
I’ve just woken up from a deep sleep after having been loved all afternoon. I am naturally glowing and I am beautiful. I have that reoccurring voice in my head again dictating to me: “write down this thought, it’s important for your growth:”
As I grow into my spirit and into a fuller woman I am finding it difficult to function in a society that’s based off ego and vanity. I sometimes feel I am navigating in a world in which I am the only one who has open eyes.
Makeup, a substance that has not been regulated since the 1930′s, and almost no ingredients banned in the united states, I believe it’s eleven ingredients; is a beauty standard for women in North America. (And many parts of the world.)
I think there is a difference between consumption, and spiritual practice when it comes to painting your face and adorning your body. Because of my area of work, makeup artistry, many women say to me, “I’m ugly without makeup” or “I need makeup to feel myself and attractive.” Hearing this negative self talk saddens me because it’s not a healthy way to interact with a product. It’s 100% a constructed mindset and that was marketed to you so someone greedy could generate an on-going profit from you and billions of other consumers. Someone invented makeup, a product you feel you require, and marketed it to you, and brainwashed you into believing you’re supposed to look like a painted human.
Of course there are scientific reasons why humans like the look of makeup, it makes us look like we have larger eyes which is reminiscent of youth or babies. Or when a cheek is flushed it subconsciously is indicative of a sexual encounter or a hormonal flush. Foundation evens and brightens skin indicating good health. The list goes on and on. It makes logical sense why humans like what makeup does; it makes women look fertile! But the logic of self hatred without that product is not balanced, and certainly not sexy. Mind, body, spirit. Your body can look beautiful, but if that’s negatively affecting your spirit you have potential to feel greater happiness, and better balance.
When I massage a colourful lip pigment into my juicy, soft, lips, I am celebrating them. That’s the difference between me, and someone who idolizes the kardashians, (I did not give them and upper case purposefully.)
I don’t dislike makeup or fashion, but I would like to help women to interact with their beauty routines with the intent of self love, rather than self harm. It’s important to separate media from genuine inspiration. My soul is awakened by women who have graced this planet with spirit and charisma and their style has embellished that. We must understand objectively and critically why we perform beauty routines and select the elements that we feel our celebratory to our unique and individual spirits. Not mimic a constructed image of a woman fabricated by ego and greed.
I feel relieved now ahaha.
xoxo,
22 year old Rachel, (I like her.)
