Hmm.. I'm here two years later.. and I'm really thinking about it. As far as I know, there is no documented favorite color of Baron von Steuben. But let's think.
Red was a big strong masculine color, and I may be mistaken, though I think he assigned the pink sash to major generals when planning out uniforms. So perhaps red.
But he had a lot of grey. He had his gray woolen Prussian coat, and his Italian greyhound.
And I think Frederick the Great's favorite color was blue, and blue was a very Prussian color, and even though it was a bit of a pretty boy color, he was a pretty boy at heart. That is alright.
So it's either blue or red.. actually, we'll meet in the middle and just go out on a whim and say purple. That's between both of our options. And hey, it's a rich guy colour, he was a little pretentious. It works. He would have been honored. So. There you go.

Today my friends would not stop yapping about how much my art sucks, and how much they hate my style and allat. So what did I do as therapy? DRAW LAFAYETTE! It's missing some minor details BC I was just bored, but yayayayay!!!!!!
