The Expression Amrilato Released on Steam After Initial Rejection
MangaGamer’s English adaptation of the Yuri visual novel The Expression Amrilato released on June 13. However, as I previously reported, the game was denied a release on Steam. Valve judged the game to be inappropriate because it supposedly contained a sexual situation involving minors. This is in reference to a none-nude (SFW) bathing scene that takes place early in the game.
Many, including MangaGamer staff, felt that the decision was unfair and incorrect, as the game is suitable for all ages, containing no sexual content. They felt that Valve had unfairly targeted the game, as it has come down hard on previous Yuri visual novels, removing them from the store or delaying their release.
Fortunately, things appear to have worked out well for The Expression Amrilato. On a blog post dated June 21 MangaGamer announced that the game is now available for purchase on steam. MangaGamer explained that, thanks to fan outcry, Valve approached them expressing interest in carrying The Expression Amrilato on Steam. The game was released on the platform that same day with no changes to content.
