EDIT: I should've mentioned that all this below was brought to you because I realized that Ro'a's baby never got to have a communion so his spirit didn't get to live in Eywa. And that happened to so many other tulkun babies.
You know what's really messed up about that forest scene? That this is what Jake deems he really needs to do to stop human colonization but he didn't lift a finger to help with the real way to undermine it earlier.
I don't know what was the point of the whalers infodumping about amrita in front of Spider for so much of The Way of Water. It doesn't seem like the Resistance knows that it is what finances RDA colonization efforts. Nothing is done with this knowledge. It's like no one asked Spider about anything he learned during his capture and Spider didn't tell anyone.
There is a talk about tulkun fighting back but just because they are being murdered. This is, of course, the most important reason but because tulkun are not interested in defending themselves Na'vi also won't. Jake cheers them on when they banish Payakan for speaking up because fighting back would make his family unsafe.
This means RDA can continue to get their blood money. This means they can finance more ISVs, more people, more weapons, more destruction. All the things Jake thinks RDA will do when they replicate how Spider breathes they are already planning to do. Bring more humans, build more cities, kill any Na'vi in the way and any Tulkun they can use to pay for it all. They were going to do it before Spider got his gift and they would still do it if he was dead. Ardmore telling her man to shoot anyway has shown that clear enough (admittedly, Jake couldn't know that part).
I know most Na'vi refuse to use human weapons but many in Jake's and other sides of Resistance do use them. They hit maglev trains to cut off human resources. If they knew that hitting those ships would do even more damage to RDA they could devise ways to do it. Getting tulkun to understand it's more than themselves at stake, that this is about saving the world could also help. But nobody seems to know. Nothing is done about it.
The story just goes back to hiding in Awa'atlu and the colonization proceeds unbothered. The villages burn for Sulys sake again. The tulkun continue to die. Jake and co get to pretend the war is not their problem for months. Again. Jake only does something when they do find them. Again. It's like last time he did this taught him nothing.
As always, it's when the armies are at the door when he does something. But of course it's too late. Quaritch came for Spider first. He will always come for Spider first. So Spider has to die. Because killing one kid is easier than fighting back where it really mattered.
Spider's ability is the biggest existential threat to the whole world. Tulkun hunting isn't. Somehow, we always err on the side of more murder.
I do appreciate Jake correcting the course before it became too irreversible but does it have to always be at the last fucking minute?
I think it's really interesting how in the first movie, Pandora is being colonized for unobtanium, a super conductor that revolutionizes travel and big industry for pretty much all of humanity. Still not right, of course, but it is something that would pretty objectively help the human race.
But in these last two movies, the new motivator for the RDA is amrita, a product that is only available to the super rich. No average person on earth will ever be able to see amrita, let alone benefit from its anti-aging properties.
Many billionaires today are highly invested in anti-aging, and are willing to do whatever it takes to keep themselves alive for a few more years. A product like amrita would drive the uber-wealthy insane in competition for it. I think the film's turn to amrita as the driving force behind Pandoran colonization is very relevant, given that the benefit of the tiniest portion of earth's richest is why we're in the situation that we're in.
The film's ultimate turn from broad mining to the specific acquisition of a limited source to benefit only the rich is a sort of poignant reflection that I do really like.

"Something intoxicating floods his veins, reminiscent of the venom but something deeper, steadier—something easy to fall into, and never return." 🍯🌅 Part 3/3 of the Ambrosia Series.
In the finale of White Lotus season 3, if I was Zion, I would have told Amrita that Rick could have a session with her before me because he was OBVIOUSLY experiencing an ACTIVE mental health crisis! Just me???
Warning: This contains wholesome moments that may or may not be canon with my stories. :)
May 11th, Mother's Day. A beautiful day to celebrate the women in the world that hold a motherly position in families. Even some friends celebrate due to having the mother of the group. A day of celebration and appreciation.
Even the strongest hero celebrates this day. Homelander was getting to his cabin hidden away from the public eye. He held a bouquet of flowers, a small plush of a angry rabbit, and a bag full of random foods. He lands carefully before walking up to the door. He was able to open it with one arm as he walked into the cabin. Already soft steps came running towards the door. Before Homelander could stop the full sprint of the feet coming at him, the small impact has him freezing mid way in the door. The impact didn't cause the small body to fall back. Instead the arms wrapped around his leg and even nuzzles the small face into his thigh.
"Okay sport, on the boot, Dad needs to get Mom her gifts." Homelander spoke quietly as to make sure he wasn't heard by the woman in the building.
The sweet boy that looked to be around 6 stepped onto his dad's boot as he held on tightly. Homelander began to walk over to the kitchen with ease and letting his son giggle as he swung back and forth. Once at the counter he set everything down before reaching down and pulling his son off his leg to hug him. His son has his eyes, his hair was pitch black, and his face was a mix of the two parents.
"How's been dad's little hero today?" He hums before continuing. "Has you mom caught wind of anything?"
"No dad, I have been helping mom all day. While she was napping I made her this." The little boy reached into his overall pocket and pulled out a paper flower that looked very rough around the edges. But it was obviously made with love.
"Good job bud, now, if you will go check on mom for me. I will be there shortly." Homelander requests as he sets his son down. On the floor, which he got an okay from his son as he runs off.
Homelander smiles watching as the little boy runs off to the beating heart he hears in the bedroom. He sighs as he sets his hands on his hips. He then uses his speed to hurry and put items in the fridge while taking the bouquet apart and trimming the ends. He then sets them in a vase before taking one single rose out to present with the plus. He then stops and takes his red gloves off letting them sit on the counter. He then grabs the plush, rose, and a new jar of pickles. Then he struts his way to the bedroom where already he can hear his son rambling on about how he took so much time cutting out the flower. Homelander slowly stops around the corner to listen in.
"So so, I colored it and then to my scissors and cut it out. Cause like you said, laser eyes can be dangerous when dad isn't around."
"Such a smart boy. We don't want to replace the wall again." The woman giggles as she pauses and spoke again. "John, you know you don't have to hide while we talk."
Almost bashful, John comes around and enters the room. He held the gifts with a sweet knowing smile as he looks at his lovely wife. Resting in the bed was Amrita, his long term friend who turned into life long partner. Well in John's words, his wife. She was sitting on her side of the bed with their son kneeling next to her on John's side. Amrita's stomach noticably round and from the pickle jar in John's hold, another child on the way.
"I just didn't want to steal the spotlight from our son's hard work." He said as he walked over to Amrita's side to sit down on the edge of the bed. "Happy Mother's Day, for the best and most incredible woman."
"John, you knuckle head." She whispered as her face had a little shade of blush.
John showed the bunny and rose first, which Amrita pouts a little thinking it was super cute. Then she gave the rose a small sniff which made their son speak up.
"Smell mine! Smell mine!" He was so enthusiastic that Amrita obliged and gave a sniff. Which she was surprised since he used a scented marker to make it smell like cotton candy.
"Mmmm, cotton candy, my favorite." Amrita said smiling before giving their son a kiss on the forehead.
"And where is my kiss?" John asks as he smirks.
Amrita lifts an eyebrow before setting the bunny to the side and curling her finger towards him. John moved on the edge getting closer as Amrita leaned forward. Instead of a forehead kiss she gently pulls his collar to kiss his lips. Getting a disgusted sound from their son as he looks away with his hands covering his eyes. This made them laugh as John continues handing the jar of pickles.
"There is a bottle of mustard in the fridge and I know you have been craving icing, so there is a can in the cupboard. So whenever you are ready, I'll get either." John spoke as he gives her a kiss on the forehead making Amrita sigh with a wide smile.
"Thank you, you know just the perfect gifts. I see where our son gets it from." Amrita says before setting the jar on the nightstand. "So what is the big plan for today. You had our son watching me all day like a hawk. Something has to be going on."
Amrita's guessing skills and pattern recognition had caught the two boys off guard. Well more their son rather than John.
"Well while our hero was keeping you safe, I was setting up a day to spend out in the sun."
John got up and offered his hands to Amrita. She takes his hands and slowly got up with a heavy breath. The weight of her tummy always making getting up from bed a bit of a challenge, but she didn't mind his help. Especially since every time he helps her up, he makes sure to check on the baby with his X-ray vision. It has become a habit of his and Amrita was grateful while she was pregnant with their son.
"How is our child doing?" Amrita asks as she puts a hand on her stomach and began to walk towards the door. Which their son was already running ahead to get his shoes on like a routine.
John hums as he follows behind. "They are fine, but I think Mom needs a back massage in the sun or I can save it for tonight." He has a smirk on his lips which Amrita rolls her eyes.
"Now remember what the doctor said this time. No fun time, you might induce labor."
This pregnancy was a delicate one. In the beginning Amrita was having issues with dietary requirements. She was constantly sick and the baby was not growing properly. After some careful monitoring they were back on track. Still it was risky since the baby was so small even as John continued to baby Amrita.
"I know. This time things have to be different." John said as he was able to walk Amrita outside to the front of the cabin.
Already their son was outside swinging on the tire swing Amrita put up when they found out about her first pregnancy. Then right next to it was a picnic blanket spread out with a romantic set up. Though on further inspection, there was pizza set up, some pasta, and salad. So it was romantic, but family friendly for their little family. Amrita walks over with John taking her arm. Their son giggling as he spun around on the tire swing.
John helps Amrita sit down before taking his place behind her to allow her to lay back. He then wraps his arms around her gently and rests his head on her shoulder. Amrita relaxing as she looked up at the sky as the sun was starting to set creating a beautiful glow.
"John..." She said to get his attention. "Thank you for making this for me."
John listens and kisses her neck. "Anything for you. I love you."
Amrita smiles softly and turns her head to kiss his cheek. "I love you too."
"I love you Mom and Dad!" Their son yelled as he ran to them to join in what he thought was cuddle time. So he jumps between his mom's legs and hugs her tummy as he sits down. "I love my little brother too."
