i thought about going with Midlife Crisis as the book title, as opposed to An Occupation. Seems to fit the general theme of the main’s journey of self-discovery and life-achievement

a sort of post coming-to-age story-line, since she’s already gone through a coming of age story, and it turned her into a bitter badass.

Does the deuteragonist deserve all the resentment and getting shot in the face? Yes, I say. He fucking does deserve all the salt.
