What the heck. Poor idea, poorly played out. I got through maybe half an hour? Long enough for the character who is only there to further the plot tells us about the demon and the rules but the rules make no sense in practice? Come on. Six lives for one? What?

The plot is thin and it is very obvious what is going to happen so I’m not interested in finishing the movie.

Some lady is killing people in the room with her baby. Cut to a different weird dysfunctional family. Cut to the kid is possessed(?) with Lilith who is also causing major mayhem but the rules of the game are that homeboy has six (6) days to kill six (6) members of the bloodline that goes with the kid. So Nanny, Grandpa, Uncle Shithead, mom, her mom, himself. Fuck it. I cannot do it.

Weird putting of fingers on the kid actors' mouths, the little girls' terrifying drawing, actors who don’t know each other sitting too close together. “I’m telling you Caitlin, something isn’t right, you should have seen the look in Angie’s eyes.” (I burst out laughing)

He has to kill six people in his bloodline or else Angie dies and there are only six people in the world related to her including him so he has to kill himself too if he wants to save her but that also leaves her with no surviving relatives so she would be an orphan whose uncle killed all her family so that would really suck for her. I’m not really interested in seeing how this movie plays out or what loophole this kid tries to find. They explained the rules, I’ve already figured it out, and now I am bored. I watched a little more just to see if I was right and then homeboy starts to kill his nanny for Lilith so anyway, onto the next movie.

Today I want to talk about this amazing masterpiece on Netflix

Bulbbul is a supernatural period drama that is written and directed by Anvita Dutt (in her directorial debut) and stars the Laila Majnu pair of Tripti Dimri and Avinash Tiwary in the lead. Rahul Bose (English, August), Paoli Dam (Hate Story) and Parambrata Chattopadhyay (KahaanI) are also part of the main cast.

Summary - Bulbbul, a child bride, grows into an enigmatic woman ruling over her household, hiding her painful past, as supernatural murders of men plague her village.

Genre - Horror suspense

It has no jump scares but while watching few scenes I got chills on the back of my spine. This movie does not only use fear of supernatural but also showcases the full spectrum of negative human emotions. The open display of social evils and how scary humans can be is actually more terrifying than the supernatural element in the movie.

The movie goes back and forth on timeline but I assure you the mystery and horror still stays the same.

The cast and everybody on the directing and producing side did an amazing job in this movie.

Things to know about before watching it.

1. It's an Indian historical period drama.

2. The story starts in the nineteenth century in Bengal Presidency.

3. At that time in india child marriage was common. The girls were also married to older rich men.

4. Though widow killing was banned, widows were often forced to give up everything and live in outhouse.

5. It's set in patriarchal society and don't bother with police much India was a colony at that time.

6. It's based indian myths and folklores but nothing to tough as most of it is explained within the movie.

7. Indian metaphors but its understandable

8. The main actor is so pretty is made me question my sexuality.

I want to start looking for publishing companies that would have an interest publishing my book, and I’m still looking into expenses and the shebang before I begin contacting

If anyone in the writeblr community knows publishers that work around the genres of horror, dark fiction, and mystery-suspense, I’d like to compile a list. I think I have 3 or 5 more chapters, but I still need to edit the first set of chapters to correct continuity errors.

I don’t know still if I’ll cull chapters, or cut the book up. I forget how long the second act is....
