@anabioun / a monster?
Terror. A feeling they weren’t unaccustomed to, but one that stung just as fiercely every time, that caught them off guard again and again. Living under a deity of fear did not exempt a person from trembling before all the others, and the imperative to Look, Watch, Know did nothing at all to sooth their very human response to what was before them. Yellow, translucent skin that barely covered the network of arteries beneath; watery eyes where one could barely distinguish between the whites and the irises; and lips black with death -- death! This was a walking corpse, a zombie! Some creature of the End, or the Flesh? If the former, was it here for Levi? Oh, God! It was a nightmare on too-long legs! Yet even as they shrank back in horror, grasping uselessly at the front of their shirt as their pulse flew and their chest ached, all their other Eyes were open wide to drink in the sight. Look! Watch! Know! “I don’t-- don’t want to-- no, no, please--!” A corpse, a corpse! If it touched them, would they die? They heaved another breath, their head spun, and they collapsed, insensible, as their Eyes spun in their various sockets and gaped and swallowed all the fear they had to offer.
