Gariban Printing on Fabric

Gariban printing is often associated with paper, but it can also be used to print on fabric. By carving the stencil and hand-printing with ink, the texture of the fabric creates soft bleeding, rough edges, and subtle variations that cannot be reproduced digitally. Each print becomes slightly different, embracing imperfection as part of the process. ExperimentalPrintIn this work, I explored how the characteristic lines and layered colors of Gariban interact with textile fibers.

ガリ版印刷は紙だけのもの、と思われがちですが、 実は布にも刷ることができます。 版を刻み、インクをのせ、 紙とは少し違う“にじみ”や“かすれ”が布の繊維に残るのも、ガリ版ならではの表情。 同じ図案でも、一枚ずつ微妙に違う仕上がりになります。 この作品では、布の質感を活かしながら ガリ版特有の線と色の重なりを試しました。
