Why not? Hussie isn’t exactly ProblematicTM so I don’t think he would be endorsing underage relationships any time soon. I appreciate that Caliborn and Calliope seem a little on the more childish side, but I feel like that comes down to their isolation and innate personality traits.
ohhhhhh my god oh m y god
I love your denizen theory because it's unique, comprehensive, and well founded, but I was wondering who you would pick if you had to assign 1 denizen to 1 aspect categorically and singularly (besides Yaldobaoth, but then why is Abraxas the only other Gnostic deity? Would you want to go for a balance of Greek/Gnostic)? That said, fantastic work on those denizen lists, you've really covered all the bases!
thankyou! I’m glad you like!
the only thing is, If I had to pick only one denizen for each aspect, I run into the problem of we have two canon named denizens who are both clearly Void associated, Cetus and Nyx, regardless of the players. So I really dont think there is supposed to be only one per aspect
Nyx is perfect for Roxy as she is the goddess of Night and all things dark, very Void
but Cetus, while being Vriska and Rose’s Denizen, is an ancient sea creature (fish/whale/shark it varies but think Leviathon basically) of the deep ocean in mythology, and they were associated with things like Misfortune, Bad Omens, seafarers and pirates asociated the image with lost cargo and being swept off course, essentially gone and void and without direction, much much stronger connections to Void then even Nyx who is undeniably Void
but as for the Gnostic associated deities, because of their stature as sort of “on top of the food chain” in regards to all the other deities, I think of them as only secondarily aspect associated, if associated at all
and they would be Yaldabath, Abraxas and Echidna (who is fulfilling the role of the Gnostic Sophia so in homestuck she’s half greek/half gnostic influenced)
Yaldabaoth has strong ties to ideas of Heart and Light, being the original creator of souls in myth and associated with the light symbol and other things in homestuck (and then he was Dirk’s and Caliborn’s and possibly one of the trolls Denizen as well but unknown)
Abraxas then has very strong thematic ties to hope in his mythos that I’ve gone over before, but also Breath as well (and this was Jake’s and I believe Karkat’s Denizen as well from the way he described it) but there his also his nature of “all opposites in a single, all of existence in a single being” being making him perfect to be whatever a player needs him to be in that moment
then lastly Echidna who is very Space associated obviously, as most of our Space players have been associated with her (Save for Porrim), but she is also associated with Light as well, even just for the fact that most of “deus ex machina” sort of knowledge seems to find its source with her, either through her deals with various players or the knowledge it implies she passed on to Aranea, a Light player. As in that troll session Aranea had Echidna as a denizen, not Porrim, implied through the fact that denizens can only speak to their assigned players and Porrim never mentions her, which would be strange because ever person who had Echidna as a denizen has spoken to her and become part of Echidna’s plan in some way, which makes sense, Echidna would want to gather as much player help as she could, so why not Porrim as well? Only answer is she couldn’t
so to tl;dr answer your question, Greek denizens would be associated strongly with a single aspect, and different ones of a same aspect teach different lessons or facets of that aspect. Like Cetus seemingly dealing with the Misfortune and Unlucky parts of Void, while Nyx dealing with it more as an aspect of Darkness and Shadows, cuz every aspect has differing facets like that so it makes sense to have denizens for each facet or a specific part of an aspect in order to teach a more specific lesson to any player who needs it. Cetus feels like more a harbringer of warning, while Nyx is like a teacher of the night. Different strokes for different folks
otherwise you run into the problem of merely representing the aspects as large vague wholes, with plenty of space for players to interpret the aspects as they please or focus on the wrong parts of it, thereby clouding their needed lesson which is almost definitely more specific
@analytic-chaoticism replied to your post: the fuck u mean GLaDOS is pronounced like gladys
I have literally never heard a single person pronounce it that way in my life
me neither, but i was looking up wreck-it ralph cameos and
exfuckingcuse me???????????
@analytic-chaoticism replied to your post: i hate homestuck cause my friend is a sociology...
Honestly you just have to be vague AF, don’t tell them about the page count, and just show them You Can’t Fight The Homestuck to make it look interesting
that's actually a really good idea i might show him that or the kickstarter trailer cause most of the spoilers make no sense without context.
