When the Federal Government took over Immigration from New York State in 1890, The Barge Office became the temporary Immigration station while Ellis Island was completed, between April 19,1890 and December 31, 1891. and again from June 15, 1897 to December 16, 19900, after a fire at Ellis Island.

I was honored to be asked to create the logo for the Georgia Immigrant Alliance for Civic Empowerment. The GIACE is comprised of people of color organizations in Georgia that gather to build power through community organization and mobilizing individuals and groups around issues that impact us all. They were looking for a logo that showed solidarity, unity, and working together. They also wanted it to be bright and full of energy!
