Days 1-4 of my Croctober2025 list :^]
Results from the #paleostream Tamaulipasaurus, Dentaneosuchus, Anatosuchus and Delphyodontos. This stream was something else, especially the end.
Day 16: Parental Care
Anatosuchus minor is carrying babies on her back, while scrolling through the open wetlands.
Sorry for weirdly drawn hatchlings, along with weird anatomy sketches.
Camouflage for croctober! Here, an Anatosuchus hides itself in some leaves.
Archovember Day 8: Anatosuchus minor
Pseudosuchians were once much more diverse than they are today, and Anatosuchus (or “duck croc”) is one of many strange experiments the clade attempted.
Hailing from early Cretaceous Niger, at first glance Anatosuchus would appear to be a standard small notosuchian. But then you get to the head, and see the broad, flattened, U-shaped jaws. It’s thought that Anatosuchus would have waded in the water, similar to a heron, and used its bill-like snout to dabble around for small aquatic animals.
Anatosuchus was very small, with the adult size clocking in at around 27 inches.
Entries 19-24 for Emily Stepp’s Archosaur Art April
I think that from this point on I really learned how to use the opacity of the hachures on my drawings.
I want that Eudimorphodon as a wizard’s familiar. I mean look at him. He is so precious.
And I just now realized something about ALL the entries for this challenge. Almost all of them had grass on the ground.
Grass.
Before the end of the Cretaceous.
Yeah... I am sorry paleonerds. I have failed you
Anatosuchus minor
Artwork by Vitor Silva
The so-called “duck crocodile” isn’t a true crocodile, but part of a group of extinct reptiles that walked on land called notosuchians. Its broad snout helped it catch small animals that live in the water.
