Name: Anchisaurus polyzelus
Name Meaning; Near Lizard
First Described: 1885
Described By: Marsh
Classification: Dinosauria, Saurischia, Eusaurischia, Sauropodomorpha, Plateosauria, Massopoda, Sauropodiformes, Anchisauria, Anchisauridae
Anchisaurus was another sauropodomorph from the Early Jurassic, specifically from about 190 to 174 million years ago, in the Pliensbachian to Toarcian ages. It was found in East Windsor, Connecticut, as well as in Springfield, Massachusetts and Manchester, Connecticut; a rare find indeed, as not many dinosaurs are known from the east coast. it may look, at first glance, to be rather primitive - given its bipedal stance (some scientists think it may have walked quadrupedally, but this is unlikely given the shortness of its front limbs) and slender features; however, after much analysis and reclassification, it actually was found to be extremely closely related to true Sauropods. It was around 2 meters long, and is known based on a few individuals. It was decidedly an herbivore, and it had a sharp “thumb” claw, which it may have used to defend itself.

AS SUCH, MY ABILITY TO BE PROFESSIONAL AND NICE HAS DECREASED A THOUSAND FOLD. A VERY LONG, VERY SASSY, AND PROBABLY VERY RUDE POST EXPLAINING TO SOMEONE HOW THEY ARE WRONG IS COMING. I APOLOGIZE IN ADVANCE. PLEASE DON’T HATE ME. I JUST WANT SLEEP.
