Anti Tikal Brainstorming
What would the Anti Tikal be like?
Tikal as we know her is gentle, a pacifist, spiritually grounded, constantly trying to stop violence and calm Chaos down. she’s compassion-first, conflict-last.
so Anti Tikal wouldn’t just be "evil echidna™️", she’d be a zealot of action. someone who believes peace is weakness and that hesitation is what doomed the echidnas in the first place.
instead of begging Pachacamac to stop, Anti Tikal would be whispering in his ear like “you’re right to take the Master Emerald by force. power unused is power wasted.”
she wouldn’t seal Chaos/Anarchy away to protect the world—she’d unleash him as a necessary cleansing, believing destruction is the only way to force the world to evolve. not out of cruelty, but out of absolute conviction.
visually I keep imagining:
maybe darker red fur, maybe keep it the same
sharp eyes instead of soft ones
echidna war paint
posture that’s upright and commanding instead of timid and apologetic
and personality-wise? she’s calm, but not kind. like an angry storm is always brewing just beneath the surface
where Tikal mourns the past and tries to prevent history from repeating, Anti Tikal would see the past as a lesson in what happens when you hesitate. she’d respect Chaos/Anarchy not as a wounded god, but as a weapon, a force of truth. and she would absolutely see our Tikal as the real tragedy.
also... Scottish. very Scottish XD Cause the Anti Knuckles is Scottish
and for plots that might arise... maybe she would team up with Doctor Finitevus? Scourge stopped Anarchy when she tried to bring him back in the past, so maybe now she gives Doc Fin's Enerjak a chance. Or perhaps she would find her own way to bring back Enerjak and pin the blame on Finitevus.
also remember that Tikal haunts the old school building. the Anti Tikal could get mistaken for her and she'd have to be confronted
as for the Anti Tikal's name... Mutul or Motul maybe? Mutul is the real life city of Tikal's actual ancient name, Tikal being a name given by the people who discovered it later on. Motul is a modern city in Mexico that derives its name from Mutul.
feel free to give me your own thoughts on this in the comments! the Anti Tikal will be appearing in Comic Edition, so whatever we come up with is going to appear in the story.
Edit: her name is Palenque and she's appearing in a flashback in Chapter 86
The 3,000-Year-Old Cosmic Map: How the Ancient Maya Built the Universe on Earth
Deep within the lush, dense jungles of southern Mexico, secrets can remain hidden for millennia, swallowed by a sea of green that guards the past with quiet tenacity. For centuries, we believed we had a clear picture of the great Mesoamerican civilizations, imagining powerful kings commanding legions of workers to build towering pyramids and sprawling cities. But sometimes, a discovery emerges…
Maya Jade and Nephrite Death Mask / St. Petersburg Museum of Fine Arts
Two 8th century Maya merchant characters. Had this sitting around for a while. Wanted to make a background but never got around to it.
In hindsight I know giving Ch'um Nich (left) jade earrings is probably inaccurate– she's a middle-class merchant, and jade jewelry was restricted to the elites. I'm not sure about the hat worn by Juun Ik' (right). It was probably worn mostly by women, but there's a painting in the Chiik Naab murals of a subject with ambiguous gender wearing that sort of hat, and my idea of the character is that he's a gender-nonconforming effeminate man. Admittedly, his cape isn't based on any historical sources, so I stuck with simple, of-the-time colors.
The influence of Teotihuacán on Maya civilization during the Early Classic period (150-600 AD) has been widely debated, particularly concern
Teotihuacán pyramid of the Feathered Serpent was built in a time Teotihuacán was projecting strength and divine power of ajawtaak (Mayan Lords). There are elements of Mirrors and obsidian. Images of Gods were present and evidence of human sacrifices.
The Early Classic period (150-600 AD). Constructed around 180 AD.
