Poor Ariadne. Imagine helping a foreign prince, saving his life, leaving your whole kingdom and family behind for his love, him promising you he'll marry you and then just abandoning you on a random island, leaving you to die basically and not coming back to save you. Even after you saved him.
Forever one of my fave princesses

Echoes of Wisdom Headcanon Countdown
༺ Day 31▪︎ 68 Left
In the era just after the Imprisoning War, the Silent Princess began to bloom beneath the Great Sky Islands (which were sealed out of human view with a cloud barrier). They quickly spread over Hyrule in the age of the First Great Calamity, and it was the princess of the time - the only one capable of seeing the Light Dragon - that discovered that the flowers first blossomed from stray teardrops that fell like sprinkling rain. At the time, the royal family still knew the story of the Sage of Time (it had yet to become forbidden knowledge and the Forgotten Foundation was built for the purpose of remembrance). For this reason, the ancient princess named the flower the "silent princess," after the quiet sobs that still came from the Sage in her draconic form. It, too, became a symbol of eternal love as she cried for a hero yet to exist across time.

This is a stele of Nefertiabet, a princess of the 4th dynasty, but I think it’s extremely vital to note that she is sitting on a stool with some of the rad platform-boot bull’s foot legs I featured a while back.
[Description: A large carved and painted stone featuring numerous hieroglyphics on the right, but on the left a large depiction of a woman with enormous dark hair and a panther-skin dress that the Louvre says is a mourning dress, sitting on a stool with bull’s hoof legs.]
From my DA page.
Atet wandered the halls of her tomb, sandals whispering on the stones. The dust on the stones told her how long she'd been sleeping--centuries if she had to guess. A thousand years, maybe. She touched the wall on her right, fingers tracing the symmetrical cuts.
Day by day by day, until they became years. Today would be her birthday, by her count. She scratched another into the stone and broke into the stores left for her afterlife. A cake of barley and dates was in her hand, and she placed a wax candle on top. She lit it, blowing it out after making a wish. Khonsu, how many more years must I wait to see your beautiful face again?
