After some detective work, she not only traced the sword back to an ancient Greek colony now in Turkey, but also dated it to 5000 BC - earlier than what is referred to as the Bronze Age. . Chemical analysis of the sword indicated that indeed it was not made out of bronze (a tin copper alloy), but copper and arsenic. . Thus, this sword dating back to an early stage of the Bronze Age is one of the oldest swords ever found, and therefore the invention of this weapon can be traced back to warriors and chiefs who resided in this part of the world thousands of years ago. .
