365 Creatures: Week 8!
We've got More Horses! We've got More Puppies! We've got a Pangolin with a secret friend and they're doing crimes together! And... whales! Spooky legendary whales, even. We're starting to close off Fantasy February, but not without getting to some classics first.
50. Orthrus
See, a regular malinois? It's getting into everything. It's eating you out of house and home. You're questioning it's sanity on the daily... But Orthrus malinois? With two heads and three eyes each, all ready to Get Into Everything? It's eating you out of house, out of neighborhood, out of the mortal realm. But... how can you blame that little face(s) and waggy tail(s)??
51. Black-Bellied Pangolin + Niffler
They're friends! And you know what they say. Friends who steal together, stay together. It's World Pangolin Day, and while a pangolin might as well be a fantastical creature in it's own right, I can't express enough how much I needed space on my list. So the power of friendship prevails!
52. Sperm Whale (Leviathan)
Ah, the Great White Whale of the Red Sea... I have such a soft spot for the legendary creatures in Endless Ocean 2, so of course a few had to make it onto my list. They're great, even when certain giant whales are found off of a cliff face drop off that makes me feel like I'm staring into an unholy abyss... but at least it's pretty!
53. Humpback Whale (Black Harbinger)
It's... well, it's not World Whale Day anymore. But I really wanted the two Endless Ocean whales to be on the same page, so sacrifices had to be made. They'll be facing each other because they're friends! The Black Harbinger is much more manageable, found in a nice shallow atoll that doesn't steal my soul. Sure, night diving still sucks, but at least I can see the floor.
54. Kelpie
Whales aren't the only ones swimming around this week! The thing about having so many horses on this list is that I had to be real creative with some poses. Usually, I'd draw a kelpie just standing there, being spooky. But I have enough standing horses (see literal next entry), so here's a swimming horse instead! It's gotta get around the swamps somehow...
55. Abraxan Winged Horse
It's a standing horse... with wings! Truly, I was more focused on the patterns. The idea of a cherry bay with a blanket is one that I'm excited to do, for sure! And hey, maybe that's why I have so many horses on this list. Maybe that's why I did a whole project on ball pythons. I love color morphs and fun combos!
56. Gundabad Warg
This took so many attempts to be happy with... Turns out, wargs have weird faces. Who'da thunk? And I could never find a great reference. But here she is! My favorite of the warg designs! I can't remember if she was actually named Daisy in some fannon or something, or if I've just had a years-long hallucination, but I like the thought of fearsome animals with cute names, so I'm rolling with it.
We're finishing off Fantasy Feb next week, and heading into a new themed month, March! But for now, enjoy week 8!
