Very specific headcannon but I think post outbreak settlements like Jackson— specifically northern ones in areas like Canada, Alaska, Russia, etc— would use dogsledding as methods of long distance trade. Within a couple years, everything old-world near you is gonna be more or less harvested for resources. Dogsledding would be effective for traversing cold, icy terrain to access hard-to-scavenge areas. You could go longer distances, depending on the sled you could haul more cargo, and dog teams can sometimes go more distance faster than horses.

Yes this is an excuse to combine two things I find really interesting, but wouldnt it be cool to see old ways of life come back like this?
