I hated Cecile from Unordinary. I didn't really look into her too much. Funnily enough, the main reason I even hated her was because I hated her hair being green. It was a green hating phase I had, and well, I'm over it. So, my hatred towards her character didn't dwindle, especially after she bad mouthed Rei infront of his sister and disrespected Remi (Remi was kind of naive, I agree, but she's adorable too!). Then it just sky rocketed after she gave ideas to that Juni or whatever to spread the news of Seraphina loosing her ability. Seraphina suffered so much, and though it did help her gain perspective, I hated both Cecile and Juni. Like, yeah, people knowing the truth is important, but at the cost of another person's suffering? Seraphina did not even participate in the whole Royals politics and kept to herself, scrolling through her phone, skipping classes, and well, her title was just decorative and helped her stay away from annoying stuff. So I don't think it was amy of the school's business to know about her situation. There should be a line draw here, boundaries should be made. A reason I hate paparazzi too.
But recently, I've read an Unordinary fanfiction. It's not even centered around Cecile. It's angst, has a lot of gore and stuff. So, Cecile in that fanfiction, talked about showing the truth to the public and how they deserved to know, and I kind of...liked that? I mean, if we come back to Unordinary, we can see that the authorities are hiding atrocious things they're doing, especially Ember from the public. The media's in it too. I remember this one lesson I had back in high school about how media is like, the fourth pillar of democracy and stuff. Not sure what kind of government they have in Unordinary. But what I mean is, power, when remains unquestioned for a long time, gets abused. The authorities wants to maintain the hierarchy and control, so they manipulate the medium through which people get to know the truth. It's kind of like how the Ingsoc government in 1964 have the ministry of truth to alter the truth, and by that, reality. Of course it's not that extreme in Unordinary. So Cecile's who thing about everyone deserving to know the truth, I think it's a bit...admirable? I'm not saying her actions are right. She's pushy and loves to hold a position of power and is super manipulative (which a lot of people in Unordinary are, to be fair). But as someone whom I see becoming a reporter or any other position in the field of media, I think that's a nice mindset to have. Because the authorities should be exposed to the public. I'm not sure whether she'd bend to power and ambition and go along with the authorities, but seeing how much she hated the control Asslo (as king) had over her press group, and how she still went ahead and told Juni to post the article (still hate it by the way) despite the Asslo's warning, I don't think she'll be satisfied to work under the current system? I don't think that she'll rebel against the system like Remi, Isen, Blyke, John, and Seraphina, did (Arlo too in the end, but he sent against them by acting like he was integrating with the system). She'll be very frustrated with this whole thing. Maybe she'll rebel secretly through social media, using fake identity/account and all, like the Cecile in the fanfiction I read.
Also, I used to agree with Isen that she's hot, but then I became older than her and now I can't see her as nothing but a child. Her ability is quite amazing too. I really don't want Cecile to be nicer or anything. Her current personality is fine. I just want her to be a part of the fight against the authorities in her own mean bossy way.
