bleachposting again yeah whatever ok
the more i think about the timeskip the more i hate it. at first when i first saw it i was like aww thats cute theyre happy but every time im reminded of it im jusy filled with a sense of… why, though?
ichigo’s role in the timeskip is the only one that makes sense to me. yeah, of course he carried on the family business. he’s always been family-oriented, always loved his dad even though his dad is weird, and he’s always been all about helping people. of course he’d continue running the clinic. HOWEVER. that is where my compliments end.
orihime being a stay at home mom is so frustrating. i understand that objectively its cathartic to her character to be able to rely on someone else after she’s had to rely on no one but herself almost her whole life, but… all we know about future orihime is that she’s a mom. she’s a mom and she’s married to ichigo. just a woman who loves her son and her husband and relies on the men in her life. yeah. maybe it works in a vacuum but i dont think it works in practice.
and why is chad a boxer? he was canonically uninterested in sports pretty much the entire time we knew him, and he hated violence for the sake of violence (as in, violence without the need to protect someone). becoming a boxer seems like the complete antithesis to what his character was in the series, and i understand that people can change in ten years, but when you’re writing a story you need to set up this change or else it will feel random.
not to mention even though his friends continue to support him, theyre obviously not as close with him anymore due to his newfound fame. and i think thats stupid. chad in the rest of the series would’ve never wanted to become a boxer, especially not a famous one, and especially not a famous one who never gets to see his friends because of his job.
oh, and don’t even get me STARTED on uryu. is him becoming a doctor supposed to be POSITIVE character development? him going into the profession that he was forced into his whole life by his borderline abusive father? the profession that left him with severe trauma? instead of following one of his actual hobbies? so much of his original arc seemed to be about following your passions instead of being what other people want you to be, and… what happened to that?
not to mention hes also suffering from the disconnect from the rest of the group. he has to take a break from work to watch a video on his phone on the roof to feel connected to his friends because his work doesn’t allow him to actually connect with them. it’s implied this is a frequent occurrence.
and you’re telling me he just forgave ryuken after everything? because ryuken had a “reason” to act the way he did? because he helped him save the world? as if that makes up for years of neglect and abuse he faced… oh, and the time ryuken told him to his face that he doesnt care if he lives or tried to isolate him from all his friends, or the multiple times hes just straight up tried to kill him. he literally referred to ryuken by his FIRST NAME… like, come on. this boy was on terrible terms with his father and kubo expects me to believe he decided to go to medical school to become like that guy anyway? hell no.
there’s also something to be said about the fact that rukia and renji having a kid is stupid why would they do that it doesnt actually make sense narrative wise and seems to only be part of the story so they can imply renruki’s daughter and ichihime’s son are going to mirror rukia and ichigo or something.
once again i KNOW people can change in 10 years. obviously. but its not a satisfying ending if you dont actually set up why those changes happen. bleach’s future may be a happy ending in theory but its bad writing in practice. Ok ill shut up now
