day 1: heatwave
butch lesbian on twitter tried to argue with me that all femininity is inherently more subversive than all masculinity ? iâm confused ?
been doing some thinking, and noticed that all the transfem characters in utdr transition on-screen (lion lady, mad mew mew, inevitably ralsei), whereas all the transmasc characters transition off-screen (mettaton & spamton) and you have to do a whole secret-finding process to even find any evidence that they are transmasc. this isnât really criticism as i enjoy the way toby fox writes trans characters, i was just reminded of it while thinking about how i donât think weâve ever seen a transmasc character transition on screen with full intent from the writers.
i miss them
heartwarming: transfem named mary sue and transmasc named gary stu have had a beautiful nonbinary baby named donut steel
i miss kannao a normal amount. and by that i mean a lot
i like a trans headcanon as much as the next guy but sometimes it really boils down to âthat character has not had enough agency and/or introspective freedom in their life to have transitioned by the time we meet them in their storyâ
proposing a new genre of fiction called an anti-romance where u r presented w a couple at the start & the story is about their emotional journey towards a catastrophic break up
will they won't they (end this farce). there's only one bed (but for some reason they don't really want to share it). out of context eavesdropping (that paints the relationship in a better light than it deserves). chasing after them to stop them getting on that plane (and stopping them from finally being free)
nobody understands my vision i don't mean any old story where a relationship fails and it's tragic or w/e i mean a story where the intention is for the audience to root for it failing the same way u root for it succeeding in a romance. & when the relationship finally implodes at the climax of the story it's all very cathartic & everybody cheers.
like have u never wanted a fictional couple to break up so badly it hurt?
nothing worse than liking a character who the entire fandom is convinced is a certain kind of dere type but they just Arenât. and they get boiled down to just being that dere type even when there is glaringly obvious evidence in canon that they are not
nearly done with my first p4g playthrough and yeah i know this discourse has been rehashed five million times but MAN. i really canât get over how much naoto reads like a tguy who just doesnât know transition is a real option for him. heâs got some MAD internalized transphobia. iâm sure the fact that literally everyone around him wonât stop bringing up the fact that heâs a girl and how everything he does is because hes a girl 24/7 does not help either
Iâve recently been playing persona 5 (sadly) and I lowkey love their dinamicâŠ.anyways donât lick your boyfriendâs face if you want to loose kiss privilege, once may work but twiceâŠ
has anyone seen my pet bacteriophage its name is styrofoam and its about [hand touching the floor] this tall
everyone knows about robots who want to be human but what about humans who want to be robots. people who view their bodies as machines. people who unethically modify themselves to fit their mechanical ideals. people who view the organic as too constricting so they turn to the cybernetic. Hello hello can you hear me
ive made the joke of "haha all the pts were at the shrine at the same time joker and sumire were which implies they deliberately chose not to invite him" to my friends and written it off as a writing mistake but I really just sat with it and. oh my god. all of his friends didn't invite him.
the phantom thieves are still friends with joker in the new reality. they have the new years party. they are happy to see him. but he is now an afterthought. there is no more texting him to go to the palace or hang out or darts or anything. he has become secondary in their life because the problems he helped them work through never occurred in the first place-- and their bonds are largely built on him acting as an assistant to them. I dont doubt that there will still be phantom thief hangouts in maruki's reality and that they'll stay good friends, but joker no longer gets priority nor special attention. he's facing a degree of abandonment which, potentially, can explain some of his motivation to get the old reality back. He no longer has a use to them, and depending on how you read joker that could be a worst fear realized for him.
this makes the akechi thing even worse because he does seek joker out specifically. joker is the one person who remains a priority for him because joker is the single person he currently cares about, whether he admits it or not. it's possible to read 2/2 as a double failsafe on maruki's part, then, because it could be a way of signaling "your friends don't actually need you deep down. you are nothing but a tool to fix their problems. there is one single person who doesn't view you that way, who actually values you, and I will take him away from you if you don't comply."
I dont think the pts actually dont care for joker of course. my optimistic reading is that it's an internal logic error: ren came into their lives as a consequence of something they lost or needed, so once that thing is returned or fixed their history is wiped. this can be seen whenever joker reminds one of them, i.e. ryuji or morgana, about how they met and they become confused. it's difficult to form a deep bond with someone you don't have history with; I have friends in passing that I'm not close with and I treat them with the same general pleasantness the pts do to joker during the start of third sem. obviously if they dont remember him their feelings won't run as deeply. I think this is also supported by the fact that that when they start to have doubts, even before fully snapping out of it, they go to Leblanc to seek joker out. that single act of wanting to right a wrong or sort out a misunderstanding makes me feel as though they do have a vested interest in their friendships-- it's just unfortunate joker isn't there to see it happen.
I know that the reason joker seeks the thieves out and earns their priority during normal gameplay is because he is the player character and that is the way the video game must work, but again, akechi shows that there's still a difference there. and regardless, I think it says something interesting about joker, if you choose to read it in such a way. the abandonment is undoubtedly bad, yes, but there's more to grapple with there when joker feels the need to return the true reality not just out of a sense of justice, but a desire for control. a desire to become the center of his friends' world again, even if just subconsciously, and get their attention back. and then, when 2/2 rolls around, he must make the decision of whether or not to hand over that control of his friends for a more minuscule control of akechi-- which he now might delicately view as one of the only "real" connections he currently has after all. and if he does, the horrible irony is that on the other side, that connection will also become just as fake as the others are.
I think this is an interesting analysis⊠it kind of reminded me of the ending of persona 3. After having their memories erased, yukari and junpei remember that theyâre friends with makoto, but they donât remember why. And due to the dark hour having been erased, Makotoâs bonds with the other members of SEES no longer existed. They were dependent on the things they went through together, and those things had no longer happened. I think itâs relatively the same with 3rd sem; the phantom thievesâ bonds are heavily dependent on what they went through together and how they were saved by each other, so when you erase their experiences, they naturally wonât be as close. It isnât just Joker that theyâre âneglectingâ, throughout the first week or so of January they donât hang out with each other nearly as much either. When we see them casually from the 3rd to the 9th, theyâre with their other friends, or their families, which Maruki had deemed more important to them than the phantom thieves.
It also makes me wonder why and how the Phantom Thieves existed in Marukiâs world in the first place⊠what did they even do if none of their targets were evil in this world?
hyperfixating on an oc x canon ship is hell like yeah hereâs this guy i made up to kiss this character. they are the only thing iâm able to think about. if i want to interact with content of them i have to make it myself. kill me
im the last surviving ryukita fan
Not sure if ive posted about this before, but we as a society must consider rook as the ugly duckling.. with all his bird symbolism im surprised ive never seen it brought up before. feeling out of place because he literally WAS out of place, and he had to find the people he belonged with to truly shine⊠hello can you hear me
