Soooo word on the street is that High Potential got renewed for S3! (take a moment to jump with joy)
While I don’t have issue with the current one I do think this change offers a cool opportunity to elevate the show and increase its longevity. I’ve grown to love these characters and my cute little procedural drama. Ah hem, prepare for a yap session:
It’d be amazing if the new show runner further develops the ensemble outside of their relationship/conflict surrounding Morgan and her life. To be clear, I love her and the actress! Shes so fun and compelling to watch. But everyone around her gets dimmed down in order to cater to ‘the Morgan Gillory show’.
How did they solve cases of this nature before Morgan? What was the team dynamic? Why is it that almost every part of every case revolves around Morgan and her incredibly obscure knowledge rather than it working in tandem with the rest of the team and their varying strengths and knowledge? Reminder that they all went to school for detective/police work!
S1 it was more like she completed the puzzle that completed the team. While she may have stirred things up, they were able to settle into a really good rhythm. Now it feels more like, “Well, Morgan what do you think? Poor us we couldn’t solve it w/out you!😄”.
I high key couldn’t ignore it anymore when my mom and I had a good cackle at a line they wrote for Daphne this season that went something like, “that means whoever killed him knew a lot of things!” …are we actually so serious 😐 who set my girl Daphne up like this??
To be clear, I know she’s the lead and I absolutely think her and her external/internal conflict getting most of the lime light is justified. It works for the show and I’ve been enjoying myself so far. But can we have a little bit more than crumbs of character development…maybe…please??
Anyway I’m looking forward to the end of this season and I’m so excited for the next one. It’s just my thoughts!
