Quark is the typical saloon owner. All the town slides through his doors at one time or another.. He keeps the drinks coming and somehow always knows when a fight will break out. A regular thorn in the side for the sheriff, but also occaionally will pass information to Sheriff Odo...for a price.
Sisko is the supply depot in town. Travelers coming through stop by his place to restock. He basically runs the town, everyone always (at one point or another) needs what he’s selling. He’s a fair man and won’t cheat you for a sale. Which is more than can be said for some businesses...
D&D’s motel. A place for a weary traveler to lay their head over night, get a meal or two. If you can afford it. Dukat and Damar’s hotel is on the expensive side. They’ll use every trick in the book to cheat a young traveler who doesn’t know better. Sheriff Odo is constntly trying to get them on something, but most of what they’re doing is legal, and he can’t pin or prove a single charge. Yet.
Miles Brian is the blacksmith. He cut the Irish out of his name to avoid the persecution that followed him from the coasts to wherever he’d traveled. Years ago he’d met an older man, the former blacksmith, and managed to become his apprentice, and finally take over for him after his death. He runs a good business and and provides the best metalwork in town. He often cuts a trade rather than a direct price from his customers, always interested in what they can offer in return over money that always has a changing meaning.
Julian Bashir is a young doctor educated in England and come to America to get a real taste of “frontier medicine”. He’s fascinated by the type of lives everyone’s made for themselves out there and wants to make a place for himself there as well. He got told off by the Mayor’s widow, Ms. Kira, when he made the mistake of saying that out loud when he first came to town. However, that thorough chewing out only convinced him he’d come to the right place, if the attitude of the rest of the people he’d meet would be anything like this woman, Ms. Kira.
Garak runs the haberdashery, the clothing shop and repair, and is also known as having the best town gossip. He’s a bit of a mystery, just showed up one day and opened up shop, no background given except that he knew it was time for a change of scenery. He subtly steers newcomers away from certain establishments in town, such as the D&D motel, or “other unsavory establishments” as he has been known to say on occasion. He isn’t very sociable beyond interactions with customers, and many had given up trying to learn more about him until the Doctor came to town. They spend some afternoons at Quark’s saloon or the other eating establishment in town.
I’ll figure out the rest later.Maybe Worf is Odo’s deputy?.
