Maddie says this "It can’t be a good one [Albert’s relationship with their father]. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have shown up on your doorstep the way that he did. Trust me, I know." while also talking about her parents and I know obliviously she came to buck for help and stayed with him, But because she was on her/bucks parents and their mistakes at the time. I wonder if a some-point buck went and stayed with her(and doug? since he knew he was bad as teen) as teen before they lost contract again

Prepare yourself, this won’t make sense.
So, Maddie met Doug at 19, let’s say by 20 they were dating and she introduced him to their parents. Here Buck would’ve been around 13 (because he would be teen-ish and the age difference would make sense) and he felt the asshole vibe there.
She then kept going to college, probably practicing because that’s how nursing school woks, right? That’s how she met Doug, who is a few years older than her, because we said so.
We’re making Maddie an advanced nurse practitioner (cuz she smart) and that makes around 6 years of studying. She would’ve gotten her degree at 24. By this time, Buck would’ve been 17.
Why I don’t think he could’ve gone to her in all that time? Well, she was busy and with an asshole boyfriend (probably husband by then) and they wouldn’t have seen each other for a long time there. At least not for long because college keeps you busy and even more if it’s nursing.
(What we don’t know is if she went to a local college or a college farther away but won't even try here because I don’t understand how u.s. colleges work)
By then, they would still be in touch but not as much because Doug was getting more asshole with time.
We’re assuming Buck got into college at 18 and did the regular 4 years (don’t know for what and won’t even try because again, i don’t understand how u.s. colleges work).
He graduated when he was 22 and went right out to south america. Then after that (considering he said they weren’t in contact for three years and he was 26/7 when he said that) he and Maddie stopped having contact. She was around 30 here.
At 24 he joined the seals and did, let’s say the first three phases of training (that’s like, 6 months). He turned 25 around here.
He then went to the fire academy (that’s like three and a half months) and started working (he’d been working for five months at the start of season one) and he turned 26 around that time.
Yes, according to this Maddie would be 35/36 in canon, which doesn’t make much sense but well, none of the time references we get around her and Buck do so
All this was to explain why I don't think there was a chance for him to go to Maddie while she was studying or after because they weren't in contact as much/anymore? Yes. Sorry, anon
