tw: discussion of rape/non-con

hi i saw ur most event post w the ask from anon n i just wanna share my thoughts lolol

personally whenever i see a post tagged as non-con i know that that means rape, and i think most people know that as well.

i don’t mean to sound rude towards anon but i feel like having #tw non con and #tw rape is a bit redundant bc i feel like they have the same meaning??

i feel like having #tw non con would suffice, because most tumblr writers (from what i’ve seen) always use that tag instead of #tw rape. but again, having an additional tag wouldn’t hurt

i usually just use #tw: dark content on my posts and then list the warnings at the beginning of the fic

no i really appreciate the thoughts on all this!! i feel like as a mainly dark content blog, i definitely have a certain responsibility to ensure my tags and warnings are as detailed and as easy for the reader to process as possible. back when i used r/gwa as my main source of porn, i remember how the [rape] tag would be mandated even if it was dubcon - so i understand that different communities and different people have different expectations for these warnings.

with that being said, this is my blog, so i will be the one ultimately deciding which warnings i use and the meaning of those warnings. the reader has a responsibility to take them into account and ask for clarification if unsure of the meaning.

what i settled on is this: i do think having tw.rape and tw.noncon would be redundant for filtering purposes(especially when i’ve specified what those tags mean on my blog), but at the beginning of the fic, i’ll add the rape warning in addition to the noncon warning. it’s four extra letters, and i think it would be especially helpful for readers who find my fics through the tags or through reblogs and aren’t familiar with my blog.
