He turns his gaze up to the ceiling and lets himself think about everything it must have taken for Andrew to have never had a clue. All the small and large betrayals from his family, friends, and Neil to get him to this point where he’d lost four whole years with Neil.
“You’re awake.” Katelyn’s voice draws him out of his thoughts. The light is different in the room now, later on in the morning but he doesn’t know how much time he lost to the ceiling. If it were any other morning he might quip something back at her. Something that would see his sister-in-law smile.
Instead he thinks about how Neil hadn’t been at their wedding and Andrew had spent the night surrounded by happy couples.
“You knew.” Andrew says and he expects a flinch but he doesn’t get one.
Instead he watches as something settles over Katelyn’s face, and it isn’t something he had ever expected to see considering this accusation he’s leveling.
It’s relief.
