Technically this is my hard launch of this character! This is Andiel Sunfall, my blood elf paladin. The blue design is canon but the red and gold looked too good to pass up!
Before the third war, he lived peacefully with his mother, a priest, and his younger sister, an aspiring mage. His father was a traveling merchant who unfortunately passed when he was young. He used to have grand dreams of seeing the world beyond Quel'thalas, something he perhaps got from his father, but after the loss he began to see those dreams as childlike fantasies that he would have to leave behind. He stepped up to support his mother and sister, and became a city guardian, which is how he's depicted here.
As a guard his life was relatively boring - he had always been a good athlete and proved to be a fine swordsman, but those skills were rarely needed. Silvermoon and indeed, all of Quel'thalas were safe. His most valuable asset was his ability to communicate, and over the years he came to know his people as he watched over their lives and helped them. It seemed a good thing, that he never left home. He believed he had no regrets.
At home, he spent most of his time with his family. His mother had long taught him and his sister to worship the Light, and even imparted her wisdom of inscription to them. At the time, his sister always proved to be more successful in her studies than him, though he did earnestly dedicate himself. She wanted to be a mage ever since she was a child, and her convictions had not changed as her study of magic became increasingly advanced. Her ambitions worried him some, as their family was not of note in the courts of Silvermoon, something that would stand in her way of getting better mentors.
Eventually, those concerns would be validated - but that next part is a story for another time, and one I'll hopefully have more art for. Far down the line, Andiel joins the Blood Knights and sees the world in circumstances he would have given anything to not live through, but that's not how these things go, is it?
