Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman has claimed he is confident Leeds United are looking to sign a centre-forward this month. A mixture of lack of options and poor finishing in front of goal has seen the club target a marksman this winter. Eddie Nketiah was recalled from his loan spell by Arsenal, meanwhile, Bamford has missed glaring opportunities in each of the last three games against Arsenal, Sheffield Wednesday and Queens Park Rangers. Goodman sounded optimistic about the team signing a player as he claimed the team are short of options. He said: “he fact that Nketiah went back because he’s looking for first-team football is understandable from Arsenal’s and his perspective but it has left Leeds United very, very short with options. I’m confident that is an area they will be looking to address in this January transfer window.”(Source: Sky Sports) While the pundit sounds optimistic over the side’s attempts, it’s not certain the club is willing to do everything needed to secure a forward. Links with Che Adams have gone quiet with Ralph Hasenhuttl seemingly determined to keep him at Southampton (via The Express). And if reports are to be believed the Yorkshire outfit are unwilling to fork out the necessary funds to complete a deal for Watford forward Andre Gray (via Football Insider). It seems as though the Elland Road side haven’t learnt from last winter’s failings as they let a deal for Daniel James slip through their fingers at the last second (via Joe). The side then went on to miss out on Premier League promotion as the club won just nine of their last 17 games (via World Football). A centre-forward is an absolute necessity for a team, who have scored just one goal in their four games so far this year. However, if reports are true, the club hasn’t learnt from last year and they could, once again, fall short in achieving promotion to the top-flight come May. Leeds fans, do you think the club will secure a striker before the 1st of February? Let us know your thoughts!
