neil dies first btw.

technically speaking, for the character plotline and development its what makes sense. neil dies first.

neil who spent all his life running from death and in doing so accidentally outran life. neil who had to learn when it’s okay to stay put, to risk it all, for the right people. and andrew is the right people.

andrew who spent years living for others, for their safety. andrew who spiraled when he couldn’t find neil and felt sick because he couldn’t guarantee his safety. andrew that had to learn to trust neil to be okay on his own, had to learn to give up control.

neil dies first. he goes peacefully and when he’s old, and he’s okay with it. andrew watches, and he isn’t okay with it, but he wont blame himself this time.

andreil college meet-cute

andrew is taking an acting class after he loses a bet.

neil is taking an acting class because matt made his schedule.

kevin is taking an acting class because he’s annoying.

they are all juniors.

first day of class neil sits across the room from a blonde freshman with tattoos and ripped jeans. ugh and he’s sitting next to kevin. why did kevin steal the only interesting person.

kevin and neil have had classes together every semester since freshman year. this was not intentional. neither of them are happy about it.

andrew sees a kid engulfed in a metallica shirt glaring at kevin from across the room. when did kevin have time to piss off a freshman?

the professor has them go around the room, introduce themselves, and ask a classmate a question

neil asks andrew about his tattoos. kevin is upset that neil didnt ask him.

andrew asks neil to name three songs. neil is confused by this, which andrew does NOT find endearing.

after class ends kevin approaches neil and is like “this cant keep happening. switch your schedule.” and neil’s like well that’s too bad, because i have a writing class that cant be moved. so does kevin. the same one. why does this keep happening.

andrew decides to improve the situation by claiming neil as his partner for every assignment going forward. kevin is betrayed. neil is pleased.

the next week when andrew and neil are leaving, their professor pulls them to the side. and asks them if they knew each other before this class, and they’re like uh no ???

and he’s like hmmmmm. interesting. i just wanted to let you know that i noticed such a strong connection between you two on the first day, i assumed youd been intimate for years. ah this is exciting. i cant wait to see how your relationship blossoms.

andrew is mortified. neil is never going to speak to him again.

as soon as they leave the room they just kind of look at each other before neil starts giggling and then fully laughing because what the fuck was that.

andrew is less mortified.

neil being a math whiz but struggling in his required english or history class meanwhile andrew can pop out a six page paper in like an hour but is contemplating assassinating the professor for the statistics class he’s required to take

One of my personal aftg headcannons is that later in Andrew’s life, let’s say early 30’s, the question of retirement has been coming up and maybe Andrew gets a minor injury that benches him and he starts to consider what he’s going to do once he can’t play Exy anymore. He won’t admit that it bothers him but it does and Neil knows Andrew well enough to tell. So for Christmas or his birthday, Neil gets Andrew a gaming system and a bunch of games to try out. Andrew obviously had experience playing games with his cousins in their dorm at college, but back then he was more focused on doing coursework and playing Exy and kissing Neil at every opportunity. Now, he finds he actually quite enjoys playing video games. He favors shooters (obvious. Violence? Count him in) and simulation games, the latter of which takes Neil by surprise. But Andrew will sit for hours on the couch with Neil curled up beside him talking shit about his animal crossing villagers or his Sims relationship drama, or bitch about random things while shooting zombies. Anyway all this to say Andrew becomes an avid gamer post-Exy and watching him play becomes one of Neil’s favorite activities. (Neil himself will never get into games. He can’t for the life of him get the controller movements down. He is a Terrible gamer and Andrew once tried to walk him through playing once and got so frustrated he banned Neil from using the console with him in the room.)

when theyre at a restaurant, andrew always steal neil's dissert n then Neil started ordering andrews favorites ones for him cause he'll eat it anyway.

they doesnt fight too much, just some discussions abt neil being inattentive to things like buying cats food it pisses andrew a lot cause he told he wouldnt take care of those fat hairballs (his words)(but he ends up buying it bc otherwise the cats die of hunger).

Andrew have a letterboxd acc.

in their cart at supermarket, you don't know if they live with kids (cart is full of sugary drinks and snacks for andrew) or with a 70yo man (with all vegetables and Neil's Healthy Foods).

Neil picked up Andrew's habit of eating things in small pieces.

with time Neil become vegetarian. (don't ask me anything)

Andrew always wake up in the middle of the night to eat something and he makes a pre-breakfest to Neil's run in the morning.

Andrew HATES fish & LOVES chicken

Neil is very good at swimming.

Andrew and Neil both have insomnia but not in the same way.

Andrew has the type where he has trouble falling asleep. As a child he never felt safe enough to sleep properly, so he got so used to not sleeping and staying up late that even as an adult Andrew’s not able to get to sleep until 2-3 am or later. No matter how tired he is he can lay awake in bed for hours just staring at the ceiling. Sometimes he just has to get up and do something, smoke or watch a movie or do laundry, because he cant stay there with nothing but his thoughts. Neil usually hears him get up and goes to chill with him, even if it means he’s exhausted the next day. Andrews a pretty light sleeper but not as bad as Neil, so once he does fall asleep he can typically sleep the rest of the night as long as he’s not grabbed or disrupted by a loud noise.

Neil on the other hand has no trouble falling asleep. The man can put his head down and fall sleep anywhere and at any time. The guy lives on naps. His problem is that he doesn’t sleep deeply. Because he’s so paranoid from his time on the run, he floats in this half sleep where he can kinda of hear what’s going on around him. He wakes up at the slightest noise, the shift of the bed, even a stiff breeze. He has to be pretty exhausted to really get a good sleep. Andrew always knows when he’s fully asleep because his lips part and he hums and murmers to himself. When he’s really out cold Andrew gets very protective of him, because he so rarely gets the rest he needs. He kinda stands guard and glares at anyone who makes any noise. Needless to say when Neil’s asleep (usually on andrew) the foxes give them a wide berth.
