Painted Mining Bee/Andrena fucata/hallonsandbi. Värmland, Sweden (23 June 2019).
Love is in the air!
a curled up Panurgus having a nap on the favorite spot of every Panurgus, a flower far too small for it. unusually for these incredibly oblivious bees, i actually momentarily woke this one up. however it decided that whatever i was was not more important than sleep, and simply buzzed halfheartedly in displeasure as i walked away

I realized that they have scissor-like jaws just like ants!
Yellow legged mining bee resting on a crocus, this february, the earliest i've ever had them visit the little ecosystem i've been crafting in front of the house.
(Andrena flavipes, female imago, on Crocus spec.)
