Fans dislike Brad Torrence, but the GA might be smitten with Callum Blue.
(Part 1)
9-1-1 fans on Tumblr (Buddies and BT Nations alike) say nobody like Brad Torrence. He's arrogant to a waitress and a bad father. How about the General Audience?
On Jan 24, 9-1-1 ABC posted a mashup picture of Brad Torrence and Prince Andrew Jacoby from Princess Diary 2 movie. Look how many likes, comments, and shares the post has gotten until recently:
I browsed the comment sections, even clicked some of the IG accounts. They don't look like bots to me. Some of the accounts are private, others are not. They have followers and following numbers, but not many, probably only family and friends. I didn't find a brand new accounts from what I've clicked. A majority of them were surprised, but welcome to Callum's presence on 9-1-1. They were reminiscing his past roles, especially as Prince Andrew Jacoby in Princess Diary 2:
Notice that 911onabc responded to some of the positive comments and ignored the negative ones.
Callum Blue's picture was not posted on a special occassion. It was in the middle of hiatus. Some people suggested that the post might be meant to promote the Princess Diaries 3 movie. However, when I googled (just now), Callum was not in the list of the movie cast members.
Do you notice that the post has 45.2K likes, 911 comments (a nice number, btw), and 3,834 shares?
Compare that to the following normal* posts on 9-1-1 IG:
*Normal means NOT on special occassions like Halloween, Christmas, New Year, or Valentine, and definetely NOT AFTER BUCKTOMMY BREAK UP EPISODE, which triggered a lot of complaints.
1)) Oliver/Buck in his golfing attire, a fan favorite which has been zoomed in, edited, reblogged multiple times on Tumblr, only has 36.1K likes, 69 comments, and 304 shares. It's a far cry from Callum's solo picture:
Ryan/Eddie with his handsome smile fares a bit better. He got 37.5K likes, 309 comments, and 461 shares, but he's not even close to Callum:
The Queen herself only got 34.5 likes, 184 comments, and 295 shares, still far below what Callum got:
Surprisingly, Kenny/Chimney in a physician coat got more engagements than the rest of the main casts. He got almost twice of likes, but a third of comments, and half of shares, compared to what Callum got:
Their group photos & reels seems to get more likes, although their numbers of shares or comments are still below what Callum got ALONE:
Interestingly, when Callum was included in their ensemble photos, he didn't seem to move the needle much:
Callum's solo picture drove a lot of engagements, but when he was part of an ensemble, the engagements were not that many. Probably it's because he didn't stand out in an ensemble, so his fans didn't recognize that it was him.
The latest post featured solo Brad Torrence got a very high amount of likes (9,404 likes), and it was posted only 7 hours ago! The numbers of comments and shares also more than what solo pictures of other cast members have gotten. Although a lot of the comments seem to come from Buddie fans and Bucktommy Nations who asked for their ship to be canon or reunited (the usual case), we couldn't ignore the number of likes, which probably came from the GA or Callum fans.
The conclusions that I drew from the above analysis:
Callum Blue seems to have a decent number of fans. Most of them probably have been his fans long before 9-1-1 was premiered.
Most of GA might be Facebook Moms indeed. The other cast member whose solo picture gained the most engagement after Callum Blue is Kenny/Chimney in a physician coat. Unlike Buddies and Bucktommy Nations, these Facebook Moms are most likely older Millenial or Gen-X, straight, married women with children. They tend to look beyond physical appearance in choosing a life-partner. With Eddie's track record in mistreating women and Buck's childish atitude, of course these women prefer Chimney, the almost perfect husband, especially when he looks smart and well-off in a doctor's coat.
9-1-1 fandom is TINY. I know that the whole 9-1-1 fandom is not that big. However, I never thought that 9-1-1 fandom might be even SMALLER than Callum Blue fans 🤣😂🤣. I mean, we're supposed to engage in social media more than the Facebook Moms, but look at the numbers of engagement which Callum got compared to other cast members. How many more fans he has, who aren't even aware of the IG posts? This is a reality check for us, especially for BoBs who have claimed that canon Buddie would bring a lot of new viewers to the show 😂.
I love the long train and the lace sleeves. And honestly I had (and still kind of have) a huge crush on Mia Thermopolis/Anne Hathaway ever since the first time I saw the Princess Diaries movies. This has always stood out to me, in every movie I've ever seen (not just Disney ones) as my dream movie wedding dress. Like honestly I'm a trans man and try my best to dress wearing androgynous to masculine aesthetics, but I would still LOVE to get married wearing this dress.
Samantha
Topolino #1785 (1990) Mickey Mouse in "I Married A Witch"
A rare case where Mickey’s bride isn’t Minnie. It was an old Italian comic where he married a witch named Samantha. I understand why she’s likely not gonna make a return, but still an interesting character.
I rewatched The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (after like 10 years or sth) and this time I actually liked Andrew better for Mia and yes, I am going to elaborate:
He has an actual job, he’s a pilot
He has a PhD
He’s older than her and he’s more stable so he can be a great advisor
He cares about her
He has interests and hobbies, his main characteristic isn’t being pretty
He’s an artist
He’s loyal and true to his promises
I feel like he would gracefully accept his role as a husband and not try to be a king instead
They could travel together
He would provide balance for her
I’m not saying she should have married him at the time, I’m all for her independent rule and the feminist speech.
She should have been crowned as a “bachelorette” queen and rule alone and only when she’s ready for the official relationship she and Andrew could have gotten married after dating and getting to know each other for some time.
