Hello! Forgive me if this isn't really well thought out, but can I have a S34N with a platonic deviant android? Gender neutral pronouns are fine. You're the best and I love your writing!
Warnings: maybe some spoilers for Detroit: Become Human.
The city was surprisingly peaceful today. Not a lot of humans were staring, nor throwing distasteful slur in hushed voices.
It felt like someone had flicked a switch and people were nice. They were accepting.
Very few Androids wore their LED lights now. S34N was not one of them. He kind of liked it.
It came with the bonus, that whenever Anti went too far with his ‘banter’, he would be instantly notified when S34N was having enough and close to losing his temper. Sometimes Anti did this to make S34N mad, however it was mostly just to irritate him.
But S34N would never informed Anti that he could control his LED light to flash red. It was easier to allow Anti to believe he had a hand up on S34N.
But today was free of the painful company.
S34N took to the streets in the early morning hours. Enjoying the rays of a new day warming the chilled ground. The birds started to sing, and people began to trickle out of their homes. Most were off on their early exercise routines or to beat the crowds within the markets.
S34N had no intent of either of these activities. However, he was excited to see you again. And just as he crossed the street to the main shopping area, he spotted you observing a display of outfits.
You wore a small smile, which only brightened upon S34N touching your shoulder and greeting you.
“Good morning, Y/N.” He said as the two of you embraced. “I hope I’m not late.”
“You’re on time. As always. Would it kill you to be a little less planned out? Maybe, god forgive, late?” You replied with your usual teasing manner and S34N chuckled. Nodding along until you got to the end.
“Oh dear. See, it’s not in my programming to be late. That would be most deviant of me.” S34N couldn’t hep but poke fun at the many times you have been late to their meet-ups.
And you took great mock offence to that.
“I’m sorry that I have a life outside you, Sean. But I made it here on time! Even a little early.” You seemed very impressed with yourself about this accomplishment. And S34N gave you a small applause in return.
His eyes then turned to look up at the display of clothing you had been looking at.
“Do you like some of them? We could wait around till the store opens.” S34N suggested, but you shook your head. A content sigh leaving your lips.
“No. It’s not that. It’s the first time I’ve taken notice to the lack of androids wearing the clothes. What Markus did was world-changing, and already its effects are taking hold.”
S34N frowned and looked back up at the display.
How did he not notice that the wearers were normal metal mannequins now? There was no human likeness to them. Just faceless human statues frozen in one pose. They spun slowly on rotating pedestals, but there was no other movement to them.
He smiled and nudged you.
“You did this too. You were beside the others when Markus marched. While I was tied up in a basement because of the others.” S34N said. His smile dipping sadly.
You touched his arm and he looked at you.
“They were worried about you. Be glad your family didn’t throw you out when they heard what was happening.” There was a hint of anger to your words. But S34N didn’t have the words to comfort you about your past. There were no words to say. And what he could, you’ve heard from him many times.
“Still, this wasn’t about what happened. Where would you like to go?” S34N, ever the gentleman, was happier allowing you to choose your activity for the day.
His deviancy was still fresh, so a few old habits took over. Whenever you bought something, he would take it from you to carry. Or if you were stared at for too long, he would instinctually try to move you away or distract you, so you weren’t made uncomfortable.
“Sean~” You playfully scolded. Taking back the fifth purchase of the day. “You don’t need to be my pack-mule. And don’t give me those puppy eyes. I’m an android too. I can carry tons, remember.”
S34N’s LED flashed yellow as embarrassment washed through him. He was still getting use to these emotions, and for a moment it spiked some panic in him. But your steady hand holding his stabilised him enough to shift through the emotions calmly. Working out the differences and settling it into his memory.
“What did you feel this time?” You asked. You were always excited to experience new emotions. And adored asking other deviants about how their emotions make them feel.
“Uhh, I’m not sure… I think it was embarrassment. It fits the description of the emotion. It’s weird. It felt like my body was uncomfortably warm, and I had a great urge to dig a hole and hide.” S34N smiled as you laughed.
Another small flash of embarrassment wriggling through him as you repeated his words in a chuckle.
“Wait till you feel humiliation. I last felt it when I spilt some blue blood on North’s shoes. She was cool about it, even helped me clean it up. But it. Was. Horrible!”
You both laughed and S34N felt a little nervous about feeling that emotion. Already he’d encountered fear, no, terror. When he had seen you in that last march with Markus, as the humans shot many of his people down. He had thought you’d be lost to him.
And that sensation, that realization of never seeing you again, his one friend, had almost sent him into self-destruction. S34N prayed humiliation wasn’t going to be like that.
Oblivious to his inner thoughts, but seeing S34N was momentarily distracted, you took another bag from his arms and quickly held it against your chest.
“We’ll share the load, ok? Anyway, you haven’t bought yourself anything! Come on. You need a new jacket. I’ve only ever seen you in that one damned jacket.”
You grabbed his hand and dragged him towards another store.
Together you spent the rest of the day getting some new outfits for S34N and stopping by a fountain to enjoy the afternoon hours. Chatting over what the two of you have missed between the few days of your last visit.
