When he saw you bleeding out because he had arrived a minute late his vision saw red and immediately disposed of the fatuis that dare lay their filthy hand on you.
He carried your limp body to the Wangshu inn hoping that Verr goblet could cure you. He paced back and forth, hearth beating rapidly against his ribcage.
“Xiao” His amber eyes snapped up to look at the blonde’s form. “They’re alright. They’re just resting for now, I’m sure they’ll wake up by tomorrow or the next day.” He nods as thanks as she leaves their room for privacy.
Xiao stood a meter away from your shared bed just staring at your body. He could hear the voices whispering crude things to him and the weight of his shoulders slowly becomes heavier as each second pass by.
He released a shuddering breath as his hands reach up to cup his ears to muffle the noise of the world.
“Love”
“This is what you get”
“My dear”
“See? They almost died because of you. Just like you did to us!”
“Darling”
“You were destined to be alone”
“Xiao” His amber eyes flickered to yours. “You finally heard me.” A soft smile graced your features as you reach your hand to him.
“Can I touch you?” He gave you a hesitant nod before you engulfed him in a tight hug.
“I’m alive.” But you almost weren’t if he wasn’t so slow.
“It’s not your fault.” If he was faster he would’ve prevented this.
“Xiao, look at me.” Your other hand cupped his cheeks while brushing off the tears on the other.
“I’m alive and that’s all that matters.” He nuzzled his head on your shoulder. “I love you.”
You smile and kiss the purple tattoo on his forehead. “I love you too.”
