Trick or treat for Watari/Yachi
Come trick or treating in my inbox! Leave a “Trick or Treat” and a character or ship in an ask, and I’ll treat you to some autumn-themed fluff or trick you with some twisted spooky aus!
Treat
Hitoka was doing pretty well, in recent years, at the whole ‘getting out of her shell’ thing. When Yahaba and Terushima had mentioned a group costume with quick reassurances that she didn’t have to, that no one would think she was weird if she didn’t, that it was okay, she just smiled and asked when the costume party was.
‘Sexy cowboy’ was not a difficult costume to find. ‘Sexy cowgirl’ was even easier. Hitoka was rather proud of herself for the end result, a petticoat and hat and just enough plaid to be cute and fun with just a light tinge of slutty. The perfect balance for a fun night out with her friends.
When Kyoutani’s van pulled up in front of Hitoka’s dorm, she was not surprised at the spectrum of costumes inside. She laughed at their wolf whistles and chided Futakuchi’s inflatable bull and whatever that mess of shiny red vinyl Terushima was wearing was. Yahaba came close to the spirit of the costume, and she didn’t even want to ask what Kyoutani’s motivation was— she could admit he looked pretty good in it, and that duster looked authentic to say the least.
But to say she was a little disappointed wouldn’t be much of a stretch. That is, until they pulled up to the curb in front of Watari’s apartment building.
“Where the fuck is he?” growled Yahaba, already holding his phone to his ear. “Shinji! Get your ass down here now! We have bars to crawl and if I don’t get alcohol and a stanger’s tongue in my mouth in the next five mi— He hung up on me!” Yahaba turned to look for pity from any of the rest of them, but no one offered him any.
“He said he’s just fixing the lacing, he’ll be down in like two seconds,” Shirabu said, then put his phone away. “Your thottery can wait another minute, Yahaba, fucking relax.”
Yahaba muttered something under his breath, sounding suspiciously like ‘this had better be worth it,’ but Hitoka couldn’t ask what he meant. Because the door to Watari’s apartment building was opening and Watari was strutting out with a grin and a swing to his step and Hitoka’s whole world was crashing to a halt.
There was so much skin on display. Watari’s entire chest was bared, along with his lower abdomen and the entirety of his arms and his well-muscled legs. There was, indeed, fringe hanging from the legs of the shorts - denim so short and so tight that it didn’t really classify as shorts, more along the lines of briefs—
Hitoka snapped her eyes back up, not allowing them to stutter across the cinch at his waist and the way it pulled tight, nor at the breadth of his shoulders only emphasized by the skimpy vest-style straps, nor the width of his neck as she met his eyes at last. But they weren’t looking at her. He was grinning at Yahaba who was hollering in the passenger seat, something about Watari stealing his thunder and how dare he be more slutty than Yahaba—
“Shigeru, shut up,” Watari laughed. He climbed into the van, stopping short when he nearly ran into Hitoka. She told herself firmly that she was imagining the faint blush on his cheeks as he settled in to the seat beside her and buckled in. “Hey,” he said. “You look good.”
“You look…” Hitoka worked up a smile. “It’s nice to see someone took the prompt seriously,” she managed.
“Well. Any chance to one-up Shigeru.” Watari’s voice was strange, like it was difficult for him to speak. Hitoka felt like she knew the feeling a little too well.
“All right, bis, guys, and sundry assembled others,” Yahaba crowed. “Let’s get this shit going!”
Kyoutani growled at Yahaba to put his seatbelt back on, and, with just a little more bickering, the night rolled onward. As Kyoutani drove them to the first club of the night, Hitoka hazarded a glace at Watari, only to catch him flushing and trying not to look at her. She chewed at the inside of her cheek, and made a decision.
Two drinks. Two drinks ordered by a sensible person, and not Shirabu. And then she would have just enough liquid courage to find out what that outfit looked like on her bedroom floor.
She nodded to herself, and smiled. The night was just beginning.
lilac with kiyoyachi please?
Send me a color and a ship and I’ll write you a fic that feels like that color.
Warning: Angst ahead.
Yachi was so small. Kiyoko wasn’t much in the size department, but Yachi was tiny even compared to her. They lay together on the couch, Yachi wrapped up in Kiyoko’s arms, and listened to the rain. Kiyoko hummed a lullaby her mother used to sing to her and Yachi cried silent tears.
It was a long time before either of them broke the silence. Kiyoko couldn’t take it at long last, and she simply had to speak.
“I’m sorry,” she said. It wasn’t enough. Wasn’t enough for the sorry she felt. Wasn’t anything compared to what Yachi was feeling.
“It’s okay. I’ll be okay. I’m going to fight this.” Yachi’s small voice had that line of steel in it she had picked up in high school, the one that had made Kiyoko slip from a simple crush to completely head-over-heels for her.
“I know you will,” Kiyoko said. “But for now, it’s okay to be upset.”
“I know,” Yachi said. “I just don’t want you to be-”
“I’ll be okay,” Kiyoko said. “I’ll fall apart later. Right now, only one of us should at a time, and it’s your turn. You earned tonight.”
“By what? Getting sick?” There was a dark humor in her words, but Kiyoko noticed how she couldn’t say the word. Neither of them had managed it, not since the doctor had said it too many times for either of them to deny what she was telling them.
“We’re going to get through this,” Kiyoko said. “We’re going to find a way to-”
“Kiyo.” Yachi rarely used that nickname. Kiyoko loosened her arms around Yachi and let her roll over so her chin was resting on Kiyoko’s breast bone, her eyes staring up at her big and round and wet with tears. “This is not your fault. If you aren’t ready to deal with this, if you want to leave, I understand. I’m not going to tie you down unless you want to be tied down with me.”
“I do,” Kiyoko said. “If you’re sinking, I’m going down with you. That’s what I promised you and I’m standing by that.”
“Then we fight,” Yachi said. She yawned. “In the morning. For now, I just want to be with you.” The ‘while I still can’ was left unsaid, but Kiyoko heard it anyway. She held Yachi a little tighter and let the rain wash away her despair, and her hope.
Pride Ficlets 6-2-19
@ezzydean wanted KiyoYachi, so have some KiyoYachi.
Yachi had long since dissolved into tears by the time Kiyoko found her wedged in the small space between two vending machines. She made a small, distressed noise, and curled tighter in on herself. Kiyoko sighed and sat down across from her.
“Sweetheart,” she started, but it only made Yachi squeak and sob harder. “Hitoka-chan, what is it?”
“I c-can’t,” Yachi hiccuped. “I can’t do that to you.”
“Do what to me? Hitoka-chan, please tell me what’s going on.” Yachi sobbed some more and finally Kiyoko couldn’t take it any more. She crawled forward and scooped Yachi into her arms.
“…bian,” Yachi whispered.
“What? I couldn’t hear you.”
“You’re a lesbian.” Kiyoko nodded.
“I am,” she said.
“You should be dating a real girl.” Rage filled Kiyoko, and heartbreak.
“Is that what those girls were telling you?” she asked, her voice tightly controlled.
“They didn’t have to,” Yachi said. “I know I’m not a real girl. I wasn’t born one, so I can’t really be one. I don’t have the right body, I don’t have the right voice, everyone knows it. They all look at me with you and they know I’m not right for you.”
“Sweetheart,” Kiyoko said sternly. “The only one who gets to decide whether you’re a girl or not is you. If you’re not a girl, then you’re not. But if you think you are, if you feel in your heart that you are, then you are, regardless of what anyone else says.”
“What if I’m not really a girl?” Yachi whispered. “What if I’m just faking it?”
“I don’t think you’re faking it,” Kiyoko said. “I think that no boy would go through what you’re going through right now. But if you’re something other than a girl, well. Labels change. Even mine.” Yachi looked up at her, confusion written across her face. Kiyoko smiled down at her and stroked her hair away from her forehead.
“What do you mean?” Yachi asked.
“I mean that if you’re not a girl, then I’m not a lesbian,” Kiyoko said.
“It’s not that simple,” Yachi protested.
“It is. I love you. I’m attracted to you. So if your gender has changed, then so has my orientation. But if it hasn’t, then there’s no point in changing labels that work for us just to make them work for everyone else. I’m not less of a lesbian for loving you, and you’re not less of a girl for not being assigned as one.” Kiyoko tightened her hold on Yachi. “I’ll fight anyone who says otherwise.”
They were quiet for a long time. Then Yachi mumbled, “Why don’t you talk this much around any of the boys? None of them believe that you can be such a chatterbox.”
“Because I don’t like any of the boys enough to talk their ears off,” Kiyoko said. Yachi giggled, a light little sound that let Kiyoko know that everything would be okay. She sighed in relief. “Come on,” she said. “Let’s go be the wlw power couple this school will never deserve.”
“You got it,” Yachi said, and climbed out of Kiyoko’s lap. Kiyoko stayed on the floor, looking up at her and marveling at just how lucky she could be.
The Ways You Say I Love You 9
“You can borrow mine”
Tobio swore. He dug through his bag again. He swore again.
“What is it?” Tsukishima asked lazily.
“I don’t have my pencil, and I have an English test next period,” Tobio said.
“That sucks,” Tsukishima muttered. Yamaguchi elbowed him in the side.
“You can borrow mine,” said Yachi. Tobio looked up at the thin pencil she was offering him. It was pink and sparkly and had a teddy-bear-shaped eraser.
“But it’s your lucky one,” Tobio said. “I won’t have time to give it back to you before you have English.”
“That’s okay,” Yachi said, smiling sweetly at him. “I’d much rather know you have a pencil than keep mine out of selfishness.”
“But Yachi-san, if you don’t have a pencil, how will you take your test?” Yamaguchi asked.
“I’ll just ask Hamada-sensei if I can borrow one of his,” Yachi said. “He likes me, and won’t think I’m some unprepared slacker, like he would Tobio.”
“Ouch,” said Yamaguchi.
“Savage,” said Tsukishima.
“What did I say?”
“Nothing, Yachi-san,” Tobio said, blushing. He took the pencil from her and slipped it carefully into his bag. “I’ll get this back to you before practice today.”
“Okay!” She smiled at him, wide and trusting, and his heart flip-flopped in his chest. He attempted to smile back, and she giggled.
“You’re getting better at that,” she said.
“Yeah, it only looks like you want to murder her, not consume her flesh in some horrifying ritual,” Tsukishima said.
“Tsukki,” Yamaguchi chided, but he was smirking.
“You’re both horrible,” Tobio muttered.
“Yeah, but you love us,” Yamaguchi said.
“I do,” Tobio said, rolling his eyes. The bell rang and they packed up their lunches, lingering in each other’s presence for just a moment longer.
It was always like this, whenever two or more of them could be together. Tobio still didn’t fully understand what it meant for all of them to be so close, but he knew he liked it. As he slipped into his classroom and waved goodbye to Yachi and Yamaguchi, he thought that he would trade just about anything for a moment longer with them.
It was a scary feeling. As he pulled Yachi’s pencil out of his bag, he realized with a start that she felt the same way. He didn’t know what to do with all the emotion welling up inside of him, so he glared at the board in front of him and tried not to explode.
One thing was for certain. He was going to ace this test.
Rose gold and Kenma and Yachi please?
Send me a color and a ship and I’ll write you a ficlet that feels like that color.
Kenma cracked open a soda with a satisfying sound. He handed it to Yachi to pour into a glass and took a swig of his own soda, ignoring the second glass set out for him. She giggled, and that was a sound he was still getting used to. He wasn’t accustomed to giggling, more used to Kuroo’s guffawing or Fukunaga’s quiet titters or Hinata’s bright laugh. Giggling was totally new territory for him.
He found he liked it rather more than he wanted to admit.
He followed Yachi out into the living room, where their study materials were still spread out across the coffee table. She settled herself neatly at one side and he curled up on the other, staring sullenly at the work in front of him. She giggled again, and he found himself looking up at the sound.
“It’s not going to bite you,” she said. “It’ just algebra.”
“Just algebra is bad enough,” Kenma muttered. She giggled again, and something warm crept across his cheeks.
It was new, this thing between them. Kenma wasn’t sure what to call it yet, what to call her, but he knew he liked it. He knew he liked when Yachi was happy, when she laughed at something he did, or said, or didn’t do. And he found that he wanted to please her, wanted to prove to her that he was more than just a dormant setter who used to be on a rival team. So he picked up his pencil and pulled his algebra close to her, pretending he didn’t feel a rush of pleasure at her own satisfied smile.
If it meant getting more of that addicting rush, he would do just about anything in the world. Even algebra.
“Girls night in?” - Yachi & Yukie
Yukielet herself into Yachi’s apartment the way she always did, excitedfor their date. She came upon Yachi sitting in the middle of herbedroom floor, wearing a camisole and her underwear, surrounded byclothing and sobbing. Yukie dropped to her knees beside her andwrapped her arms around her shoulders.
“What’swrong?” she asked. “Sweetheart, tell me what’s going on.”
“I’msorry,” Yachi sobbed, clutching at Yukie’s arm. “I couldn’tfind anything to wear, and then I just started crying, and I couldn’tstop and-”
“Okay, sweetheart,” Yukie cooed. “Okay. It’s okay. You don’t have toworry about it.”
“I’msorry,” Yachi sobbed again.
“Don’tbe sorry,” Yukie said. “Girls’ night in? Does that sound betterto you?”
Yachididn’tanswer, but nodded frantically. Yukie stayed on the floor with heruntil her tears ran dry and she stopped shaking. Then she guidedYachi to her feet and led her down the hall to the living room. Shesat Yachi down on the couch then went into the bathroom where Yachikept her “secret” stash of self-care supplies. She brought itback to the living room and crouched in front of Yachi with a bottleof lotion in her hand.
“CanI touch you?” Yukie asked. Yachi blushed, but nodded. Yukie took aleg in one hand and drew the foot into her lap before pouring somelotion onto her hand. She began massaging Yachi’s foot, kneading atthe muscles until they gave up their tension and she could move on toher calf. She worked her way up to Yachi’s knee then pulled theother leg down to give it the same treatment. When she was done shetook Yachi’s hand and massaged it, then the other, then her arms.By the time she finished, Yachi was a puddle on the couch, a faintsmile on her face and her eyes closed. Yukie climbed onto the couchbeside her and pulled her into her arms. “Feel better?” sheasked.
“Mhmm,”Yachi said. “Much. You’ve got magic fingers.” Yukie resistedthe urge to make a joke out of that, or even to waggle her eyebrows, and simply held Yachi closer. They stayed like that for quite sometime, not doing anything other than holding one another and breathingin the same air. After a while, Yachi began to snore, and Yukiesmiled.
Itwas arguably the nicest date they’dhad so far.
