For Speak of the Devil AU Shadow! What are your thoughts on the Middle World exactly? Given you’re an angel and all..

The Middle World is full of pain, but it has good things too. Shadow has to hold on to the hope he's found here. It's all he feels like he has left.

He doesn't think he can go home anymore . . .

This thing was originally for the Sonic AU Collision, which sadly didn't end up happening, so I forgot to post it. But this whole piece was an absolute blast to draw, especially Angel Shadow! He’s got such a complicated design. I forced myself to actually draw his hand and I think it paid off! It was also really funny to draw Demon Sonic with his arms on since I usually him without them.

Anyway, here's the logo-less and flipped versions!

Does Shadow know who Maria is?

He does! Maria was Shadow's closest and honestly only friend before he got captured and tortured. I can't remember exactly how much I've shared on Tumblr about this bit of the lore, so I'll just give a quick rundown! The world of Speak of the Devil is split into the Higher World (where the Angels live), the Middle World (where the Mortals live), and the Lower World (where the Demons live). Angels have long since stopped venturing out from the Higher World but Shadow was curious and decided to go explore the Middle World one day. It was Maria who befriended him and showed him around.

Shadow hasn't seen Maria since he was captured and doesn't know where she is. Aside from staying safe, that's Shadow's big goal in the AU. Finding Maria.
