Analyzing Endelore so far!
So we have our four members (names are translated so there may be mistranslations!)
Rize Courage analysis first!
He’s definitely my favorite, I think he’s so pretty (plus we have the same features so I could cosplay him!)
- His design is filled with rose motifs, and his sleeves and flowy design point to inspiration from Belle’s ballgown.
- The splashes of pink on him indicate a softness that he might be trying to hide, judging by his closed-off, withdrawn pose.
- If we compare him to Belle, he could’ve spent his life being called ‘odd’, internalizing this and getting low self esteem.
- We know he’s childhood friends with Nicolas, so I wonder if that might do him more harm than good in the long run (every rose has its thorns…)
- Despite his closed off demeanor, his loose clothing indicates an ‘openness’ to me, almost like he wants to let people in but is too afraid
- I notice his chains drape from the middle of his torso down, perhaps symbolizing a closed off heart.
- Someone online pointed out his design has ivy, which grows on the bottom of the beast’s castle. We are told Shan is very shy and there are rumors he was cursed in the past, so I wonder if he can turn into a beast?
- His design is extremely ornate, suggesting wealth or prosperity, makes sense since he’s based on a prince.
- His chains also rest over his heart, which makes me think he’s like Rize, a closed-off heart longing to connect. There are also some around his belt, where the rose is situated, possibly indicating a tie to the curse I was talking about
- Just like Rize, his billowing clothes suggest he wants to be open, but remains closed off due to shyness and insecurity.
- I noticed he’s looking down at us instead of being at eye level or below like Rize and Shan, indicating a sense of superiority.
- He refers to his fans as ‘princesses’, giving the air of ‘I will show affection to you in exchange for your unconditional loyalty and love.’
- His outfit is two colours, perhaps showing a two-faced nature, and is extremely layered, maybe indicating his true feelings are hidden underneath.
- His pattern resembles antlers and skulls, tying him to Gaston.
- His chain is around his hand, perhaps implying a desire for control, and he has several chains around his armbands and neck, which could point to him being in charge (armband has the same pattern as Shan’s belt, and one around his neck reminds me of Rize’s seeming to drape from his neck.)
- The corners of his collar even look decorated with arrow points, once again linking him to the hunter. Every part of him is meticulously put together, giving a good outside impression. I know he’s Rize’s childhood friend, but it seems obvious which of them has the more influential personality when you put them side by side.
Admittedly the design I am sold on the least, but I will give him his fair share of analysis :3
- Su is the only character in Endelore without blue eyes, instead having red. This can indicate there’s a magical quality around him.
- He wears a monocle with a chain attached, maybe indicating his ‘chains’ are the reality that he is not originally human and became human from a flower. Since eyes are the windows to the soul, his being so different could be an indicator of this insecurity or peculiarity of his existence.
- His other chains are tied around the waist with a gem, reminding me of the waist cuffs you see in old films. I also noticed how his gloves seem to be almost cuff-like with their attachments, and his armbands seem tightly wound. Perhaps this indicates a feeling of a bodily prison?
- He shares the rose motif with Rize, but notably without thorns. Perhaps the thorns are present in his personality instead, since he’s sarcastic?
