Can you recommend some queer shows or films in Spanish? I'm trying to improve my level
Okay so:
Skam España, specifically season two. The protagonist of that season is bi and has a love story with another bi girl. Watching this season live in 2019 was fun lmao. It's all on YouTube I believe.
Te Estoy Amando Locamente. It's a Spanish film from a couple of years ago. It is set on Southern Spain in 1970, when homosexuality was illegal, and tells the story of a young gay man, his mother and his queer group of friends, who are directly in the fight for LGBTQ rights.
Amar Es Para Siempre: It's a Spanish soap opera, the continuation of another one named Amar En Tiempos Revueltos. The first one had already a sapphic couple, and there had been several other queer characters over the years, but the most famous ones are Luisita and Amelia. By the time the soap opera reached their storyline, it was already set on the mid-late 70's, same as Te Estoy Amando Locamente, and it was the Spanish Transition from a dictatorship to democracy. Homosexuality was still illegal, as I said, so they have this sort of forbidden/secret romance that sometimes leads to really funny situations while trying to hide the relationship or when people find out, and sometimes it leads to gut-wrenching or moving moments. Realistic over all and a really cute couple. I do recomend to watch their compilations and not the whole soap opera if what you want is the gay only though, because it is LONG. Spanish grandmas's One Piece lmao.
Luimelia: Still about Luisita and Amelia! They got so popular that they got their own spin-off, kind of like a "What If" au set in the 2020's lol.
20000 especies de abejas: I haven't watched this one yet, but I have heard that it's beautiful. Shows the reality of the childhood of a trans kid.
Aquí No Hay Quien Viva: Spanish comedy TV show, years 2003-2006 I believe. Five seasons I think? It is not a queer show per se, and it's from over 20 years ago, so some things have not aged that well. But it was funny as fuck, and it does have several queer characters, and it includes a gay man and a lesbian woman having a kid together and raising him with their partners lmao. The main gay couple, Mauri and Fernando, actually were a big reason why same-sex marriage was legalized here in Spain.
Veneno: Biopic about Cristina Ortiz "La Veneno", a trans Spanish showgirl and sex worker, based on her memoir written by a transgender journalist, friend of hers.
