nerdy but cute, not exactly popular, sophomore anakin skywalker has a devastating crush on padmé naberrie, senior, valedictorian, and future harvard student. he’s loved her from the moment he first saw her during lunch—he’s lucky to share the same period with her—and they’ve become something close to friends. but just when he’s feeling confident enough to confess his feelings, a rumor that she’s dating a college guy reach his ears.

a/n: ftr, padmé is NOT a cheater. it is a rumor.
You know you can tell me anything.
not this is his short reply. What else could he say?
I’ve been in love with you for months. And I know you have a boyfriend, but I think you should be with me instead.
Honestly... maybe he should.
Her bubble with three dots appears again.
Would you want to hang out Saturday? Come to my house? Don’t you like video games?
Immediately, Anakin turns the phone off and lies back on the cold tile of his bathroom floor. He feels high.
He should be good and say no. He should say no. She’s inviting him over as a friend and has no idea about his crush. Being alone with her would be dangerous for him. He doesn’t know what he might say... what he might do... just because he can never think straight around her.
ig. time?
He didn’t mean to type that.
Actually, he did. He’s already thinking about things he shouldn’t be at this hour of the night.
Seven??
okay
Now, he just has to make it to Saturday at seven without dying.
Here ye, Here ye, it's 28 days until Anidala Yuletide (and Secret Santa!)
Anidala lovers, the moderators have officially planned our first annual Anidala Yuletide Event and Secret Santa exchange! From December 12th - December 25th, we will be celebrating all things holiday and Anidala with both a Yuletide prompt calendar and a Secret Santa!
Hopefully, we'll have a holly jolly celebration, indeed! All of the info you'll need is in this post - as always, you can reach out via DMs to us if you have questions.
For our Secret Santa exchange, we have a comprehensive form for participants to complete!
Please remember that if you fill out this form, we expect you to give as you will also receive - please do not fill out this form if you do
We want everyone to know that if you fill this out, you will be expected to send something (and friends, we will be checking). You should not fill out this form with the intention of not sending and only receiving - it spoils the fun of the holiday and this event.
While we heavily doubt this will happen (Krampus is watching very carefully), as moderators, we have to say it at least once so people know. If you do end up being on the naughty list for this, however, you will be unable to participate in any Anidala Secret Santa exchanges in the future. FYI:
All responses that are submitted from today to November 19th will be collected by moderators. We will pair you with your official Secret Santa partner on November 20th and send a direct message with their listed information.
If you send in late - no worries! Just make sure that you actually have the time to create a gift for who you will be partnered with.
Secret Santa exchanges BEGIN December 12th and END December 25th. Make sure to tag the person you are partnered with in your gift of choice, and use the hashtag #anidalayuletide2025 so we can repost it!
If it's a fic you gifted, we love seeing them in the collection tag on A03 - make sure to add it under the collection title: anidalayuletide2025
The official Anidala Yuletide 2025 calendar of prompts/events is as listed:
If you don't want to participate in Secret Santa but want to participate in Yuletide, we have an official calendar of prompts! While the calendar may seem overwhelming, remember that you can participate in as much or as little as you'd like.
The point of Yuletide and Anidala Events is to celebrate the season with our favorite star-crossed lovers - not to stress out about the level of your involvement. We're also going to give a $25 e-gift card via a raffle on December 26th - here's some FAQs:
Yuletide is NOT connected to Secret Santa in the sense that you have to do both to get a raffle entry.
All you need to enter the raffle is to post with one of our prompts, tag our account (@anidalaweeks), and use the tag #anidalayuletide2025. A link to the extensive list of raffle rules is in the comments.
We're thrilled to throw this event and hope that people can participate in one event (or both!) Please make sure to reach out with any questions - we will be giving short FAQ posts/reminders as well.
Written for @anidalaweeks Anidala Yuletide Event and Secret Santa exchange.
This fic is dedicated to the amazing @padmeanddorme who provided the prompt: Life day during/after the clone wars, Anakin unexpectedly coming home from the war on life day.
Padmé had complete faith in her husband’s eventual return and the fact that he would come back in one piece. Her main concern was the question of when. Would it be another month or week until she saw him again? It would alleviate matters if she could talk to Ani, but this prolonged silence was all she could look forward to in the near future.

Padmé shut her eyes, but she could still see the blue screen of her datapad beneath her eyelids. Sighing, she clicked off the device, laying it aside, to stand up and cross to the window overlooking the Coruscant skyline.
As usual, the eternal city never slept, even at this hour of the night. Traffic congested the skies and Padmé wondered how many of them contained frantic families hurrying to their relatives’ homes to partake in the impending celebrations.
Lights from the upper apartments glowed cheerily, reminding her of the gleaming baubles she’d seen in her fellow senators’ offices and abodes. Not her own though. Padmé turned around to gaze at her own dismal surroundings.
Well, perhaps dismal wasn’t the proper word since her apartment was as ornate as ever, but it held a certain coldness and melancholy to it without any festive trimmings to brighten up the space.
She had meant to add a few decorations herself, however, obligations to the senate intruded on those plans. A debate for an upcoming bill was scheduled to take place the morning after Life Day, something Padmé was sure that the opposition had secured through bribes, so as to upset her delegation’s preparation. Despite the oppositions’ best effort, the scheme wouldn’t work.
Padmé was determined to sway any senators who had yet to make up their mind to not vote for the bill, which for all its fancy wording, would just make it harder to send supplies to planets in the outer rim still loyal to the Republic.
So ardent was her devotion to the impasse of this bill that Padmé had declined her families’ invitation to spend the holidays on Naboo. Her parents were disappointed, though they supported their daughter’s decision and dedication to the Senate, and Sola and her children had promised to call later in the day and open her gifts to them.
As she stood alone in her apartment Padmé almost wished she had forgone the debate preparation in exchange of seeing her loved ones. Of course, who she really wanted to see was her husband.
Unfortunately, the Jedi council had other ideas and had sent Ani and Obi-Wan on a reconnaissance mission to Dellalt a whole month ago. The degrading Holonet transmissions in Separatist territories made it so Padmé hadn’t been able to speak to Anakin since he’d left, and the ache in her heart was growing bigger every day.
The only reason she knew he was still alive was because her connections in the Jedi Temple hadn’t alerted her to such a horrifying occurrence. Besides, Anakin was more than competent enough to deal with whatever the Dellalt mission entailed, and he was accompanied by Obi-Wan too.
Padmé had complete faith in her husband’s eventual return and the fact that he would come back in one piece. Her main concern was the question of when. Would it be another month or week until she saw him again? It would alleviate matters if she could talk to Ani, but this prolonged silence was all she could look forward to in the near future.
Breathing deeply to gather her unravelling emotions, Padmé walked to her seat and sat down, clicking on her datapad to review her opening speech. There was no use in wallowing in her sorrow; she’d run through her notes one last time before going to bed. In the morning, she’d schedule a meeting with—
The slight swish of an automatic door caused her to look up. A figure she recognized all too well entered the room dressed in worn battle gear with a lightsaber swinging from his hip. He barely had time to flash his trademark smirk when Padmé launched herself into his arms.
“Ani!” She yelled as he swung her around once before setting her on the ground, his hands keeping their place on her waist. She embraced him tightly, never to let go even for a second. “I didn’t know when you’d be back. I hadn’t heard from you in so long! I thought maybe–”
She stopped, not wanting to ramble and taint this moment with her darker thoughts. Instead, Padmé kissed him. Oh, how she kissed him, like Anakin, the light of her life, the person she adored most in the galaxy, had been torn from her for decades and not just a single month.
She tightened her grip around him and felt him do the same. Anakin broke away first, his hand came up to cup her face. His forehead creased in worry as he dragged a thumb across her cheek to wipe away the tears staining her skin. “Padmé. . . what’s wrong?”
“Nothing, nothing. I’m just so happy to see you.” It was the truth. All of her other anxieties melted into puddles at her feet when her one and only Ani looked at her like he was now. His eyes were shining and filled with all the love and warmth that he could offer which was enough to last several lifetimes. Padmé reached up and pushed a stray curl of his out of the way.
He caught her hand and pressed a kiss on it and said, “Not as happy as I am to see you.” She laughed at his remark, a rush of giddiness running through her body at the familiar contact as if she was a love-sick teenager. She knew it was silly to think that. After all Anakin was her husband, it was natural he should inspire such feelings in her.
Anakin, meanwhile, was overcome with a similar rush of dizziness from being able to kiss and hug his wife. It might have also been a symptom from the nasty blow he’d taken to the back of his head hours prior, but that was besides the point.
All he could focus on at this minute was Padmé and having her in his arms. She hadn’t changed a day, which made sense because they had been separated for one month, but it felt longer. As each day passed on dreary Dellalt, a bit of his patience withered away till all he wanted to do was storm the fortress that he and Obi-Wan had been sent to observe.
His master noticed and made his customary comments on patience and the importance of paying attention to the mission. Anakin didn’t care. He couldn’t care about lying in wait for enemies to reveal their secrets. Not when Padmé was on Coruscant. He bent down to kiss her, slower this time to truly savor the taste of her on his lips.
Asteroids could come crashing through the planetary shields, razing Coruscant and destroying the lives of the trillions of beings living here and Anakin wouldn’t have moved an inch.
Wherever Padmé was was where he belonged and nothing could force him to leave his wife’s embrace. Not even the Jedi council. And if his life started and ended at this exact moment, he would consider that a life well lived, and eternity would be too short a time to spend with her.
Just as these thoughts were building up inside, making him delve further and further into his wife, she pulled back. Concern laced her voice as she asked, “How did the mission go? Is Obi-Wan okay? How did you get away from the temple? Won’t you be missed?”
It was Anakin’s turn to laugh. “The mission went fine. . . it got a bit hairy towards the end, but nothing a little quick thinking and a lightsaber couldn’t fix. Obi-Wan’s doing good. Though, he did get kinda perturbed when our cover was blown. That wasn’t my fault, y’know. That gotal was lookin’ at us funny and we had to stop sneakin’ around anyway. As for getting away from the temple. . . Well, technically I should be at the medical bay getting a post-mission check up. Don’t worry, I’ll do that later. I wanted to see you. I didn’t wanna miss our first Life Day together.”
“No, we wouldn’t want that, would we?” Padmé stepped back, drawing him with her. “I didn’t think you’d make it for Life Day. I’m glad you’re here. If you weren’t I–” She trailed off, collapsing onto the sofa with him in tow. Nestling her head against his chest, solid and comforting, she breathed in deeply and closed her eyes.
Through the force, Anakin sensed the dwindling fears and the growing happiness in her soul as it stretched out and reunited with his own to twist and twine together so as never to be apart again no matter the physical distance that separated them.
He basked in the feeling, promising to himself that after the war was over they wouldn't have to say goodbye for such long stretches of time. How long that might take, he didn’t know. But for now, Anakin had the day off and he resolved to make the most of it with Padmé.
Trying to find a good anidala fic where they are in character and the main focus is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. I hate it because Padme is my favorite female character(honestly think she's better and more complex than Leia at times. But I need to rewatch the originals to be sure). And I hate hate hate it's because of the dude bro fans Padme and Anidala don't get more love.
