“Pardon me,” Aziraphale called to the instructor, holding up a finger encrusted with batter, his flour-covered face shining with all the angelic patience he could muster, which was not much at the moment.

“Yes?” said the cooking instructor, rushing over from another pupil’s table to Aziraphale’s. As they approached, and saw the extent of the damage, their face fell slightly. “Ah. I see that they’re . . . a bit overcooked.”

“Overcooked? They’re cinders,” said Aziraphale, as the last of his patience fled for the hills. Indeed, the stack of crepes he’d attempted to cook looked like they’d all run a marathon past “lightly browned” and had reached the finish line of “char-broiled.” He’d done his best to follow the recipe, but short of using miracles to cheat Aziraphale wasn’t sure how he’d ever be able to get them to come out right. “I saw less ruination at Pompeii.”

“Now, now, no need to get upset, Mister . . . Fell, was it? We’re all learners here. That’s why I had everyone double the batch of batter, so you can all get plenty of practice to get the timing of the cooking right.”

“Ah, speaking of the batter,” said Aziraphale, grabbing the mixing bowl and showing its contents to the instructor. “Is the batter supposed to be so, erm, lumpy? And grey-ish?”

The instructor’s face strained in a way that people’s faces do when they very badly want to wince but can’t let themselves. “Erm,” they said, “not quite so lumpy and grey-ish, no.”

“Not to worry, Angel, you can borrow some of my batter!”

Aziraphale turned to the table at his left and shot Crowley a dirty look. The old serpent was quite cheerfully pouring a cup of batter onto the hot plates the class was using, spreading it evenly across the circular surface exactly as they’d been instructed to. “Crowley, for the last time, I do not need your help with this! Crepes are my specialty.”

“Eating crepes and making crepes are two entirely different worlds, Angel.”

“Let’s see yours, Mr. Crowley,” said the instructor, secretly glad for the distraction; Mr. Fell’s batter had looked utterly unsalvageable.

“Call me Anthony. Had some trouble with the first few, but I think I’ve got the hang of it.” Crowley presented a stack of wafer-thin, barely-brown, delicious-looking crepes to the instructor. Just the sight of it made Aziraphale’s mouth water.

The instructor tore off a piece of one and sampled it. A grin spread across their face. “Perfect! These are truly very impressive. Are you sure this is your first time making crepes?”

Crowley didn’t bother to hide his proud smile. “First time cooking anything, actually.”

“No kidding?” said the instructor. “Well, it seems I have a natural in my class! Keep up the great work, Anthony, and you may just be taking my job soon!” They and Crowley shared a laugh, before another student called them over and they had to bustle away.

Crowley shot Aziraphale a smug look. “The batter offer still stands,” he said.

Aziraphale only huffed in reply and turned back to his own table. He stirred the batter some more, trying to banish the lumps, to no avail. He looked at his sad, blackened stack of crepes and sighed. How had Crowley managed it, and so quickly? Perhaps he was miracling his way through it. But then again, Aziraphale thought as he looked around at the other students, everyone else’s crepes looked more or less right, so what was he doing wrong?

“Stirring the batter won’t help.” Aziraphale jumped; Crowley had come over from his table and was leaning over Aziraphale’s shoulder.

“And why not?” he said, aiming for indignant, but it came out sounding defeated.

“If it’s stirred, it’s stirred. Those lumps aren’t going anywhere. You probably added the dry ingredients after the wet ones, and that’s why it looks like that,” said Crowley.

Aziraphale turned to look at him curiously. “How do you know so much about cooking?”

Crowley grinned, and held up his smartphone. “Didn’t cheat with miracles. Might’ve cheated with Google.”

Crowley had been trying to explain Google to Aziraphale for decades now, and he was starting to understand parts of it. A little. He was still a bit stuck on what Google Plus was, but he reasoned that once Crowley managed to set up an account for him, as he’d promised he’d do several years ago, then he’d finally get the hang of it. Either way, he understood enough about it to know what Crowley meant about “cheating.” He doubted the instructor would be thrilled that their class was being supplemented by secondary sources.

“Well, I haven’t got any ingredients left, so I’ll just have to make do,” said Aziraphale.

“We-lllll . . .” Crowley started to say.

“No miracles, Crowley.”

“Fine. We’ll make do. Now, to really get an even spread, you’ll have to pour it like this . . .”

By the time the class ended, Aziraphale had a second stack of crepes that at least looked like crepes, and only tasted a little bit like shoe leather. The instructor gave Aziraphale a C.

“Well, it’s better than an F,” said Crowley, as he cleaned up his table.

“Or a G, or an H,” said Aziraphale, who did not understand how grades worked. He took another bite of one of the crepes from Crowley’s stack, which he was steadily making his way through after miraculously cleaning up his table in record time. “These really are delicious, Crowley. You ought to surprise me with a homemade breakfast one of these days,” he said, half-joking.

Crowley looked up from where he was trying to polish the table spotless. “Would you like me to?” he said.

Behind Crowley’s glasses, Aziraphale couldn’t spot a hint of irony in those serpentine eyes of his. “Well--that is, if you want to,” he stammered.

Crowley nodded. “I’ll come by the bookshop sometime soon, with a fresh batch.”

“Ah,” said Aziraphale. Distractedly, he swallowed the piece of crepe he was chewing. “Jolly good, then.”

Crowley made good on his promise a week later, knocking at Aziraphale’s door with a heaping stack of positively stunning crepes. He’d made several batches in preparation to ensure this batch was superior, and unlike any demon before him, Crowley had figured out how to put love into his cooking. Those crepes were, by all accounts, some of the best crepes ever made on Earth, and every last one of them was eaten by an angel who was rather relieved that he’d never have to wander over to Paris just to satisfy a craving ever again.

Well. Besides the brioche, anyway.

15. Princess of Snow

What did you learn from writing this fic? 

I learned that, you know, if a character’s motive is essential to the climax and conflict, it helps a lot to have it planned out in advance...

My strength is shaping the ending and the outcomes of a story, but I usually leave the middle parts up for grabs. While writing the first three chapters, I had a hard time nailing Fai’s true motives and agenda. I had a big reminder to think it through when @koichama said in her review for Ch. 3 that she observed Fai was withholding certain information, and has a hidden agenda. Thankfully, I salvaged something that made absolute sense. At least for fanfic, just know you can play around with a character’s motive, because canon source should provide that for you to tweak as needed for AUs (or even within canon settings, heh)

So I was tagged by the lovely @empathique. I haven’t been on desktop for this blog here in forever and I don’t want to NOT do this so let’s go! 

1.Are you named after someone?

No, absolutely no. I seem to recall that my name was after someone else’s name just randomly picked out a credit roll after as movie my parents watched. Now my last name has a bit of history but I’ll only answer that if asked~

2.When was the last time you cried?

Ah, oddly enough two days ago. The timing was just horrible and everyone at home was just not in a happy mood. I was frustrated and moody some time before that moment so that didn’t help. Thankfully I was able to calm down after a while. 

3.Do you like your handwriting?

Eh, it has its ups and downs. Some days I have nice handwriting and some days I don’t. I don’t hate it but like is an overstatement too.

4.What is your favorite lunch meat?

Baloney:turkey or sweet honey turkey. I’m really old school. 

5.Do you have kids?

No and I’m on the fence on whether or not I do in the future.  

6.If you were another person, would you be friends with yourself?

Well, maybe? I mean, it’d be more like a sibling thing then actual friendship, I’m just a mess. Honestly, I can be the best or the worst person, depending on the type of person I’m befriending and how long we’ve been friends.

7.Do you use sarcasm?

It started in middle school and frankly, it’s become a third language for me more or less. I like to be positive on things but I have some amount of salt to season people at. 

8.Do you still have your tonsils?

Yep.

9.Would you bungee jump?

OH GOD NO. I’m very afraid of falling, I have had nightmares of me falling and frankly, I would scare myself awake at that. Even if my friends would do that, I just can’t. I’m not boring, I just don’t think my body can take it.

10.What’s your favorite kind of cereal?

UGH, I’m not too picky on that so I don’t have a favorite.

11. Do you untie your shoes when you take them off?

No because I’m lazy like that but I have to untie them to put them back on and ugh, that’s something that will never change.

12. Do you think you are a strong person?

I would like to think so. I don’t know if I can say yes or no with such certainty. I do know that I have some degree of strength but I’m too biased on that.

13.What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?

Mint chocolate chip. FIGHT ME.

14.What’s the first thing you notice about people?

Well honestly, it’s their faces, their eyes really. Or sometimes the feeling when I turn my head and just look at their general direction. I mean, most of the time nothing would click. Whether or not they are a generally a nice person is whatever action or few next actions they make which sounds stupid but I’m complicated. Though I can sometimes tell when a person is just a ‘do not approach’ kind of person. 

15.Red or pink?

I’m leaning towards red because of reasons but I’ve been liking pink more lately.

16.What’s the least favorite physical thing you like about yourself?

My gut. I mean, obviously.

17. What color pants and shoes are you wearing now?

Black pants and no shoes.

18. What was the last thing you ate?

Spicy chicken wings at 7-11. Had a late lunch.

19. What are you listening to right now?

Beethoven virus. Forgot who made it.

20.If you were a crayon, what color would you be?

Majestic purple or something of the sort, the kind that is mistaken for black sometimes, Or was it that dark blue one? Either way.

21.Favorite smell?

Ugh, lemons or mint. Especially eucalyptus.

22. Who was the last person you spoke to on the phone?

My mom.

23.Favorite game?

Eh, FNaF. I mean I don’t play game but I sometimes like the art or the stories behind the games like the LORE of it.

24. Hair color?

Naturally, it’s light brown/brown. Now I just had my hair highlighted so it’s brown with auburn-ish lines on it.

25. Eye color?

Light brown/hazel. It’s hard to tell so it’s either way.

26.Do you wear contacts?

Oh no, god forbid. I hate having things in my eyes so because of that fear, I rather wear glasses forever, which I am currently.

27.Favorite food to eat?

Lomo Saltado. Search it. It’s really good and it’s my current favorite dish to eat. Other then sweets and snow crab of course.

28.Scary movies or comedy?

I can do either way. I honestly can’t choose one or the other.

29. Last movie you watched?

The princess diaries: The engagement.

30. What color shirt are you wearing?

White.

31.Summer or winter?

How about neither?

32. Hugs or kisses?

Hugs, I love hugs. I can work with hugs. Especially ones that sway back and forth with you~

33.What book are you currently reading?’

Does manga count because honestly I haven’t been straight with legit book reading in a long while.

34. Who do you miss right now?

Well my best friend who is a couple states away. We’ve been friends online for years but only once I was able to visit. I wish we both have the time to do that more often.

35.What’s on your mouse pad?

Just standard black. I draw the line on how series can consume me. 

36. What’s the last TV show you watched?

TOSH.0 It’s alright.

37.What’s the best sound?

Crackling fire, the motion of a clear pool, the waves that an ocean makes....

38. Youtube mashups or Ambient noise?

Why not both?

39.What’s the furthest you have ever traveled?

Guatemala to visit family. It was fun and ate wonderful food and the weather is just amazing.

40.Do you have a special talent?

I can keep a tune while singing, I guess.....?

Maryland, USA.

here we see merbabe Kaimana, who is a friend’s OC, getting ready to smooch on their tiny, freckled, butternut squash of a girlfriend Ennis, who is animan’s OC. they were both very fun to draw, Ennis’ hair was very cute and Kaimana’s fins remind me that I really do like drawing fish... oddly enough. 

anyway, they’re both super great and gay and I hope I’m invited to the wedding.

@animangod​‘s finished commission of Kurogane and Sakura a la the world briefly alluded to on volume 19′s cover art.

CLAMP mentioned that in this world Kurogane was basically an invalid because he had no magical powers, and everything in this world needed magic to use. Animangod’s idea was that Sakura and he would look after each other - both wounded and hanicapped from the events in Tokyo and now even more so because of this world’s limitations on Kurogane - while Fai and r!Syaoran took it upon their magic having selves to find the feather. I tried to imply that Sakura is sharing her magic with Kurogane via the tech in this, giving him some ability to look after her as she’s unable to really stand on her still badly injured leg. I hope that managed to get through. 

And I hope Animangod likes their commission. I had a lot of fun with it - I always have fun doing father-daughter art - and thinking of outfits for them to fit into this world was a neat challenge.
