As a kid I obviously knew of Cartoon Network but I once googled “Anime Network” to see if that existed

Found some commercial

Starts with text that reads “American Cartoons:” and footage of rubber hose era stuff and what’s suppose to be lame and black and white.

Then cuts to text of “Japanese Anime:” Cuts to fucking explosions and a chick zipping down her jump suit revealing cleavage, guns SHIT.

Wish I could find that commercial. I found it so insulting to me and my American cartoons.

I’m trying to remember the name of an anime PLEASE HELP ME

A few years ago I watched a short anime series that I remember really liking. For no discernible reason it popped into my head. Of course now, years later, I can’t remember its name or how to spell the name of the main character or anything other than what the characters looked like and some main plot points. Here’s everything I can think of; please see if anything rings a bell:

The anime itself is only 4-6 episodes long and each episode was at least 45 minutes long. It definitely didn’t end on a real cliffhanger: the whole story arc got told

The setting is a near-future Japan. There are individuals (usually kids and teens) who have powers that activate from their genes. [What exactly is the trigger, i cannot say; but it could come out of nowhere at anytime] A primary location for our characters is some kind of theme park built around a giant tree. Specifically it’s the stump of the original, ancient tree, and there is a younger tree that’s growing from the center. I say younger but the tree-from-the-tree-stump is actually pretty old and big enough that characters can take naps in it.

Okay NOW I’ll put a ‘Keep Reading’ because this is gonna get real long real fast but PLEASE READ IT and help me find this if you can. IT’S BEEN DRIVING ME NUTS FOR OVER A WEEK

The main group of protagonists are a bunch of the super-powered people who’ve gone into hiding and most work at the park in some way. A primary character is a young guy who looks 14 but is actually an immortal who has a deep connection to the ancient tree and where it’s standing [more on that later]. His name is something like “Gin” or “Gan” or “Jin”. 

Another park resident is a yound blonde woman who actually uses her powers to watch over the city at night to try and save activated power people. She has an armored supersuit the likes of which is only ever seen in anime. 

When people are out in the field their ‘guy in the chair’ is a tall dude whose power has basically made him a technopath and has given him some kind of metal implants that run along this shoulders.  

The park owner/manager/den-mother is this woman who may or may not have powers (she always wears lolita-esque kimonos)

A secret police force has been specifically made to hunt out and eliminate anyone with activated powers.  The ‘cops’ are all cyborgs who’ve basically made into killing machines but still have their personalities. One of the primary cyborgs is a young man with silver hair who HARDCORE hates the people with powers because he blames their kind for the death of his younger sister. [there’s more to that story too]

One of the other main cyborgs is a young woman with green hair who is constantly eating, especially ice cream. A quote from the dub is along the lines of “I love being a cyborg because I can eat all the ice cream I want and not get fat”

Okay I’ll reblog this and add on the more spoilery stuff later if this dosent ring any bells but for those who have read to this point Thank you for your time and thank you for trying to help my forgetful soul
