Okay, I Just finished watching 'The Edge of Seventeen' (2016) and I actually quite liked the movie, which I did Not expect for some reason. But it was a really good movie for a coming-of-age movie, especially since it didn't feel as forced as high school movies normally do (hey, the actor are actually not 30 for once🎉). I could relate quite well to Nadine which obviously made the movie more enjoyable than it would have been if I hated her as much as appareantely a bunch of people on here do. And I mean, yeah, she isn't the perfect angel or anything and she most certainly doesn't do everything right, but her actions are (for the most part) understandable.
That brings me to the thing that bothered me about the movie. Why was Nadine the only one we actually see apologizing? And I mean, she absolutely should do that but even more so should especially her mom and her brother, which never happens. (Normally I'd probably talk more about that, but rn I'm to annoyed for that).
Oh and another thing, can someone please refer that girl to a proper therapist, like I really liked how she got along with her teacher and everything, but he should not be her main counselor. For heaven's sake, her dad died right next to her when she was 13, her mom has no idea (and it feels like not too much will for it either) how to connect with her and from what I saw her brother is a dick towards her about 99% of the time. That girl really needs someone with proper training to talk to. Especially with all the self hatred that she bottles up inside
