Ann Arbor Roller Derby wishes everyone a fun Fourth of July!!!
Ann Arbor Roller Derby’s C team played in Division 1 of Mitten Kitten this past weekend!
At the 2016 Mitten Kitten, the Vigis took home third in the Divison 2. In that moment, the Vigis made a goal to win D2 in 2017. Well, the Vigis practiced hard and ended up bypassing D2 all together and went into D1!
The Vigis were seeded fourth and ended up coming home third in Division 1!
We are all so immensely proud of this team and their hard work!
The SMASH starts here! Vigi! Smash!
"When you think of winning, what comes to mind? Shiny medals hanging beneath smiling faces? Giant trophies hoisted overhead? Gatorade showers? Victory laps?
For the Ann Arbor Brawlstars, winning means chocolate frosting, raspberry jelly, creamy custard, and lots and lots of sprinkles. That’s right: DONUTS. Winning means DONUTS."
Ever been curious of the origin story of donuts and the Ann Arbor Brawlstars? Head on over to Ann Arbor Roller Derby's newest blog post to find out --> http://a2derbydimes.org/blog/donuts-are-for-winners

Did you know the fifth element on the periodic table is Boron?
You know one way to not find yourself home alone and bor(on)ed out of your mind this Saturday?! Okay, so maybe that didn't work as well as I thought...
In FIVE days, Ann Arbor Roller Derby will be hosting our next home bout. Come out and watch the Arbor Bruising Company take on the fierce skaters of Team Michigan and the A2D2 Ypsilanti Vigilantes take on the Shipwreck Alley Rollers.

Ann Arbor Roller Derby will be hosting our third home bout of the season on July 22nd!!!
Starting at 6 pm we have the Bruisers in a rematch against Windy City Rollers. The Bruisers lost to Second Wind in Chicago a few months back, but are hungry for a victory.
Following that game, the A2D2 Ypsilanti Vigilantes will face the Sarnia Chinstraps from just across the border. The Vigis have never played Sarnia before so this should be one very interesting bout!
Why not just head on over to the event page to purchase your tickets now??

Let me guess, you happened to come to the first two home bouts and are starting to get the roller derby itch?
No, not that itch - that may require a doctor. I'm talking about that one where you just have to know what it is to play roller derby.
The next fresh meat boot camp for Ann Arbor Roller Derby will be here before you know it. In preparation, we are opening up our league scrimmage night to potential new recruits. Come out next Wednesday (July 5th) and watch some derby, talk to some skaters, and even start buying what you need!!
This is a great opportunity to learn more about the league and this crazy sport.
In the great words of Kristen Wigg in her role as Maggie Mayhem in the movie Whip It, "Well, put some skates on, be your own hero".
Do you know that old urban legend? The one where you watch the video tape full of roller derby GIFs and then you receive a phone call. You answer and the person on the other end says to you in a unnecessarily raspy voice "You will watch roller derby in seven days".
No? Well regardless, you should head out to Buhr Park next Saturday to catch the second home bout of Ann Arbor Roller Derby's 2017 season.
This will be an amazing day of competition with the A2D2 Ypsilanti Vigilantes taking on East Lansing Roller Derby - Mitten Mavens followed by the Ann Arbor Brawlstars versus Queen City Roller Girls: Lake Effect Furies.
Doors open at 5:30 and the first whistle is at 6 pm!

This weekend is kind of a big deal. For the first time, the Ann Arbor Brawlstars and the Arbor Bruising Company will be playing Detroit Roller Derby in open, sanctioned bouts!
Detroit fans will be wearing black, so let's show them our Ann Arbor pride by wearing anything purple or A2D2!
