Day Four: Favorite Quote --

“But can you not give little Gerda something to help her to conquer this power?”

“I can give her no greater power than she has already,” said the woman; “don’t you see how strong that is? How men and animals are obliged to serve her, and how well she has got through the world, barefooted as she is. She cannot receive any power from me greater than she now has, which consists in her own purity and innocence of heart. If she cannot herself obtain access to the Snow Queen, and remove the glass fragments from little Kay, we can do nothing to help her...”

I wanted to try something a little different for today, so here we have a quote that is not by Anna but that encapsulates everything Anna is. Frozen may seem far removed from its fairy tale roots, but the beating heart of Andersen’s narrative remains strong.

Since it’s Anna Week, and since it’s my birthday, I figured I would do Day Eight (Happy Birthday Anna!) a few days early.  (And this is probably all I’ll get done for the week.  Sorry about that, @annadailly!)

It took a while to get those last two the right file sizes.  Going through this scene frame by frame, though... The looks on these dorks’ FACES. 😂

Day one: Your Favorite Dress

Oh this is super hard because I do love all her present outfits, but my favorite one hands down has to be her Frozen Fever Birthday dress. Only because it really captures her personality and best part it has sunflowers all over it ❤️

Princess Anna Appreciation Week: Day One (Favorite Dress)

Anna stood in front of Elsa’s bedroom door with her hand clasped tight to her chest. She knew she didn’t have any reason to feel nervous, but something kept her clenched in her form. Her blue eyes bore wide. Years upon years standing in this exact spot, but so much had changed. Once upon a time, she’d knock with no prevail; void of a response. Now, things had changed for the better. If she could just bring herself to knock, Anna knew Elsa would answer. 

Her hand hesitated over the wood. It shook with alarm, but before she could bring her fist down to the door, the enclosure swung open. 

“Anna?” Elsa narrowly avoided barreling into her sister. She reached for the door frame, grasping it tightly to keep herself from falling over. “What are you doing here?” 

An awkward toothless smile drew over the princess’s rosy cheeks. Anna rubbed her palm over the back of her neck looking shy. “Elsa, hello,” She waved before feeling foolish and tucking her hand into her side. “Fancy meeting you here.”

“At my bedroom?” Elsa’s brow cocked up in confusion. 

“Yeah...” Anna giggled into her shoulder with small shrug. “I guess it’s, fancy meeting me here, then, huh?”

Elsa rolled her blue eyes at her sister’s antics. “Well, can I help you with something?” 

That’s a loaded question. Anna thought to herself. She clenched her teeth. Her cheeks were burning red and her fair skin brimmed with an uncomfortable layer of sweat. “You can definitely help me with something.” 

“Yes...” Elsa hummed, fighting her hands to her hips. 

“Um, well, if you remember,” Anna began. Her eyes flighted to the wall, keeping her gaze carefully averted. “For my nineteenth birthday you made that dress so special. It’s always been one of my favorites and I was wondering, if perhaps, you could possibly, you know if you have time, maybe...make me another one.” 

She finally brought their eyes together as she offered her sister a quirky grin.  “Of course I can,” Elsa couldn’t help but laugh. “But I’m not sure I understand what all this anxiety is for. Why do you need a dress?” 

“Well, you see, the thing is,” Anna stuttered over her words once more. She dropped her attention to the floor and displayed her left hand out to her sister. “Kristoff’s asked me to marry him.” Anna whispered, lifting her chin to watch her sister’s reaction. “And I was hoping you might make my wedding dress.”

Elsa blinked hard. She remained impassive as she considered Anna silently. “Why were you so nervous to tell me this?” She asked behind a furrowed blow. 

“It’s just, the last time I asked for your blessing to marry someone, you didn’t react so well.” Anna raised her hands in surrender. “For good reasons, of course! I get that now.”

Elsa softened. Her cheeks pulled up into an elegant smile as she reached forward and took Anna into her embrace. The princess was stiff in Elsa’s hold. The fear dissipated and she relaxed, settling her hands on her sister’s back. “I’ve known for weeks, silly.” Elsa giggled and grasped her sister’s biceps to draw her back for a better view. “Kristoff asked for my permission and I said yes. There was no need for you to be so worried. It’s been three years; it’s not like I didn’t see this coming.”

Anna hid her face behind her hand. “I guess you’re right,” She giggled softly. “I got all worked up about nothing.” Elsa gave her a knowing stare. “So, does this mean, do we have your blessing?”

“Of course you do!” Elsa linked their arms together and tugged her down the hall. “Now let’s talk about this dress.”

Anna stood in front of the full length brass mirror. She admired herself in a slow twirl, the smile on her face growing to painful proportions. A cream colored satin gown clung perfectly to her torso. The hem line stopped at her chest and rounded her arms, leaving her shoulders bare. A cloth-of-silver cape cascaded down her back, water-falling to the floor in gentle waves. The skirt pillowed out gracefully at her hips, ending just before her mauve polished heels. 

“Now hold tight!” Elsa commanded. She twirled her sister with one hand, dancing rays of magical frost with the other. The skirt sparkled as it lined with a sheen of icy lace, adorned with translucent purple flowers. A lavender ribbon fastened its way around her hips. Her arms secured with seamless tatting and a braid of lilac crowned her head. Anna was stilled in her spin by her sister’s hands. “So, what do you think?” Elsa whispered will a radiant smile. Her fingers wrung anxiously at her waist.

Anna stepped back into the mirror. From the crystallized flowers, to the lace drawn up to her neck, and the violet accents; the woman sighed. “It’s perfect.” She breathed. 

“Not as perfect as the woman in the dress,” Elsa winked, ribbing her sister playfully. “But I’ll admit, it’s some of my best work.”

Anna wrapped her sister in an affectionate embrace. “Thank you, Elsa. It’s my favorite dress!” 

 “Well, you’re my favorite sister.” She beamed. “It’s the least I could do.”
